Vick Hope survived a terrifying encounter with wild lions who surrounded her and her family.
The BBC Radio 1 star says the hair-raising animal encounter happened on a family safari to the Serengeti when she was just eight.

Vick and her parents were camping out for the night when they heard the unmistakable roars of lions and saw the shadow of the big cats right next to them as they cowered in silent fear.
She said: “We were in a 4×4 Land Rover, driving around with our tent and we pitched up one night.

“We had a driver, who said, ‘I’m just gonna sleep in the car tonight,’ and we said, ‘Are you not going to sleep in a tent with the rest of us?’
“He then picked up his rifle, put it across his chest, crossed his arms over it and went to sleep.
“We thought it was funny that he’d decided to sleep in the Land Rover with a gun over his chest, but he said it was fine for us to camp here so went ahead.

“In the night we woke up to the sound of these roars, and they were so guttural and so loud that we turned on the torch and you could see the silhouette of a lion right outside our tent. He was roaring and his mouth was turned up to the sky.
“And I could see for the first time in my life that my mum and dad were frightened.”
Vick made the confession on Jools and Jim’s Joyride as she spilled on the horrifying encounter which sent shivers through her spine.
Vick shared a snap on her Instagram feed with the hosts as they photoshopped an image from her Strictly days into their photo.

The radio star wrote: “Yaaaay. Hanging out with my mates on their podcast this week!”, as the hosts said she “spills the beans” on the post.
The famous star wrote: “Yesssss!!!” as she gushed over the chat with the duo – and she’s opened up about a lot on the show.
