BBC Breakfast faced an award moment on when co-host Charlie Stayt pointed out a royal Eurovision blunder – leading co-host Nina Warhurst to make a cheeky dig at the royal couple.
The pair were back on the famous red sofa on Thursday (April 27) morning to discuss the latest news headlines from across the globe.
One of the topics on the agenda was King Charles and Camilla’s recent trip to Liverpool – and the grand opening of the Eurovision stage.

But things took an awkward turn when Charlie pointed out a major blunder that took place involving the royal couple.
“The countdown is on,” Nina said, referring to Eurovision in a couple of weeks’ time.
Charlie then chimed in and said: “Who doesn’t love a countdown, when everyone counts down and someone hits a button and it all works perfectly.”
“Or not quite,” he added.
The show then cut to a clip of Charles and Camilla on the Eurovision stage – before pressing the button.
“If we track back, you’ll see the moment when the countdown happens,” Charlie said.
“The king was to push the big button, but watch closely,” he told viewers.
“He puts his finger on the button, but he’d didn’t actually push it, he misses the button and it’s the Queen Consort who pushes the button because he just missed it.”
Nina then quipped: “He had to rely on his wife to get it right, easily done in the heat of the moment.”
She added: “Perhaps he’s overwhelmed. They got there in the end.”
Charles and Camilla made the trip to Liverpool on Wednesday (April 26) where they were shown around the M&S Bank Arena.
The royal couple also met Mae Muller, the UK’s contest ahead of the competition, due to take place on May 13 – a week after the Coronation ceremony.
The King told Mae he would be “egging her on” while wife and Queen Consort quipped how there would be “no null points.”
Eurovision 2023 will take place in Liverpool on behalf of war-torn Ukraine who won the competition last year.
It will be the first time the iconic singing competition has been held in the UK for 25 years.
