Danny Dyer hooked on Antiques Roadshow as he admits to 'mid life crisis'

Danny Dyer reckons he’s going through a mid-life crisis and is hooked on Antiques Roadshow.

The ex-EastEnders star, 45, said he loved settling down to watch the Fiona Bruce show, as well as re-runs of Grange Hill and Time Team.

He said: “I love nostalgia. I’m going through a real middle-age crisis.”

Danny added that he is “endlessly bidding on eBay for things that remind me of being a kid”.

They were usually things that “I would pray I got for Christmas and never got because they were too expensive.”

He was given a Weeble one Christmas – an egg-shaped roly-poly toy created in 1971.

But he revealed: “I was devastated because I was playing with it and it rolled onto the gas fire and the head melted.

“I never really got over it. Maybe that’s why I ended up in rehab – because I burnt my Weeble when I was four.”

Danny recently opened up about his stint in rehab after checking into a psychiatric ward after he said his life “spiralled out of control”.

He called the place both a “psychiatric unit” and sometimes “rehab” as he explained to The Times that he wanted to avoid celebrity locations such as The Priory.

Danny looked back on the moment his father left their family home when he was just 13-years-old, which was closely followed by his grandfather’s death and, years later, the death of his mentor Harold Pinter in 2008.

The actor said: “I had a ‘f*** it’ button and I would destroy relationships before I could be left.

“Pre that, my life was spiralling out of control and I knew I needed to get a grip on it. There’s some really tragic stories of people who don’t make it out of that dark. I’ve got quite a nutty brain.”

He said that he’s since been working on his mental health which has helped him get to a “good place” with his dad.

The star declared he’s learned how to calm down and worked meditation into his life as one of his key coping mechanisms.
