Madonna has finally broken her silence on her terrifying near-death hospital stay during the opening night of her world tour, The Sun reports.
The 65-year-old music legend reflected on her terrifying ordeal on stage at London’s O2 Arena for the first leg of her tour. The singer admitted that she “didn’t think she would make it” to her opening night as she thanked her fans for their unconditional support at the sold-out gig.
In her emotional message, the Like A Virgin hitmaker revealed for the first time quite how close to death she came when she was rushed to the hospital back in June. Before she performed her first song, she gushed: “I didn’t think I would make it, and neither did my doctors.

“That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me. I forgot five days of my life, or my death, I don’t really know where I was. The Papa Don’t Preach singer then rubbed her had as she recalled the horrifying ordeal while brandishing her guitar on stage.
She went on: “But the angels were protecting me. And my children were there. And my children always save me, every time. If you want to know how I pulled through and how I survived, I thought, ‘I have got to be there for my children. I have to survive for the.’”
The audience erupted into cheers as she explained how her children kept her going and helped her through the traumatic experience. It was at this point that she launched into an acoustic version of the classic Gloria Gaynor track I WIll Survive, which sent the crowd wild.
Loyal fans of the pop sensation will remember how she was rushed to ICU after she was found unresponsive which forced her to postpone her highly anticipated Celebration world tour. Her manager later informed her concerned fans on Instagram at the time.
It read: “On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU.” Reports soon surfaced that her six children raced to her bedside which she confirmed during her opening performance.
But the blonde bombshell was determined to get back on stage, and after an intense schedule the singer was back in arenas delighting fans with her chart-topping records once again. However, Madonna sported a bandage on her leg to support he knee on the night, suggesting the star is still suffering from some health issues.
It comes after Madonna celebrated her eldest daughter Lourdes’ 27th birthday with a flashback video ahead of the opening of her Celebration tour. Taking to Instagram, the superstar shared a vintage black and white footage of daughter Lourdes ‘Lola’ Leon in a sweet tribute to her firstborn Saturday.

In the video, Lourdes could be seen swimming in a pool with her little brother Rocco, now 23, and playing in the garden with her siblings and her grandma. In the video Lourdes said: “My mom is very busy so I can’t see her that often and I’d like to see her more. I’ll be very happy when the tour will end.”
She captioned the video: “What an auspicious day! Opening night of The Celebration Tour and the birthday of my Brave. And. Beautiful daughter Lola. So many years later and nothing has changed! Thank you for choosing me to be your mother! You saved me! Happy Birthday Little Star! [three star emojis] Love you for all the lives!!”
