Maura Higgins hints at huge Love Island villa return – but there’s a twist

Love Island star Maura Higgins is dropping some big hints that she may be appearing on the American version of the dating show.

The Irish stunner, 32, recently posted an Instagram snap from a plane and suggested that she wasn’t returning for a while as her caption read: “Bye bye London… for a long time.”

When she arrived, she then posted a picture of her being greeted by two drivers bearing signs with the Love Island logo.

The signs also featured the iconic line from the show – ‘I’ve got a text!’, cried by Islanders who have just received updates from producers.

Fans believe Maura could be headed for the US as ITV are reportedly in the middle of producing an All-Star series of the show set in the States.

But she could also be starring in the normal US version of Love Island, similarly to how last year’s Love Island star Jessie Wynter came over to the UK show after appearing in the Aussie series.

It has been four years since the Irish bombshell shook things up in the villa on the 2019 series – trying to steal best pal Molly-Mae’s man Tommy Fury before ultimately finishing in fourth place with Curtis Pritchard.

Since then, Maura and Curtis have split, leaving the TV personality open to new connections elsewhere.

The former ring girl has gone on to be linked romantically with Strictly dancer Giovanni Pernice, though the couple ended things at the end of 2021.

Her career has also skyrocketed, appearing on Dancing on Ice and This Morning. She has since landed a presenting gig hosting the Irish version of the BBC’s Glow Up.

Before she jetted off, she posted a cryptic snap from the plane which suggested she would be leaving the UK for a while.

The post on her Instagram stories said “Bye bye London… for a long time”, only fuelling fan theories she is set to hit the shores of the American version of the show.

Maura’s new adventure comes after her Essex home was the victim of a horrifying raid.

The Love Island star was targeted by three men in balaclavas who tried to steal her car, according to The Sun.

She was left in a state of shock after the gang had torn down the metal gate that fronted her complex.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider said: “Maura was shaken up. Neighbours caught it all on CCTV and it was chilling to see three masked men ram through the gates and start trying to break into cars.”

“Maura has lived in her gated community for three years and said she no longer feels safe,” they added.
