Rapper MoneySign Suede, 22, ‘stabbed to death in prison shower’ as fans pay tribute

Rapper MoneySign Suede, 22, was stabbed to death in a shower at a California prison, according to his attorney.

The Los Angeles star, who was due to be released from incarceration in the coming weeks, rose to fame last year following the release of his self-titled debut album.

Two more records followed on the Atlantic Records label for the star, who managed to pursue his dreams despite being in and out of jail throughout his adult life.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he was found “with injuries consistent with a homicide.”

Taking to his Instagram account on Wednesday (April 26) a family member wrote: “We appreciate the condolences, our family has not set a gofundme, don’t fall for any scams, thank you!”

Just 24 hours earlier, meanwhile, Suede had posted himself, asking his 216,000 followers for suggestions for the name of his ‘new tape’.

Devastated fans flocked to the comments section to offer their condolences on learning of his passing, with one exclaiming: “Rest easy kid. I pray for you during your transition. May God place his arms around you and guide you along the way. HP will never forget you!”

Another wrote: “Rest in Peace Suede. You were taken way too soon. Can’t believe this is real.”

A third added: “You will be missed bro. Sending prayers to your family.”

And a fourth said: “Well that just ruined my day. No more slappers from my favorite artist . May he rest in peace.”

Speaking to AllHipHop in October, Suede opened up about his jailtime experience and how he had evolved in his time behind bars.

“It’s crazy,” he said. “I could say a lot, but one thing I could for sure say on top of my head right now is I learned patience.

“I learned how to appreciate things more, like family and the little things. I didn’t really know how to feel because I was in jail. It’s hard to focus on that shit and feel hopeful.
