BBC The Traitors line-up revealed – Chess coach, pensioner and disability model

The Traitors is set to return to BBC One on January 3 and the contestants for season two have finally been revealed.

BBC’s much anticipated psychological reality competition series welcomes 22 more complete strangers for the second instalment of the show, and Claudia Winkleman will return as host.

This year’s contestants will once again be taken to a castle in the Scottish Highlands for “the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust,” all in hopes of bagging themselves a whopping cash prize of £120,000.

The group will be divided into a majority number of Faithfuls, but some of them are branded Traitors whose aim will be to “murder” a player each night without raising suspicion. The Faithfuls are tasked with uncovering the Traitors and kicking them out of the game before they get the chance to steal the prize money all for themselves.

Among the competitors are 45-year-olds Andrew, an insurance broker, Anthony, who works as a chess coach, and Ash, an events coordinator. Ahead of the second series, 67-year-old retired shop owner Aubrey has said that the past Traitors “shot themselves in the foot” when it came to keeping their identities undercover.

33-year-old photographer Brian and 34-year-old mental health area manager Charlie will be joining the line-up, along with retired teacher Diane, 63, who said she would feel “awful” if she chosen as a Traitor.

This year’s cast features a wide range of people with ages ranging from 20s to 60s and a large variety of careers, including a veterinary nurse, a British Army engineer, a sales executive, an apprentice economist and a disability model.

One of the youngest contestants, 21-year-old Kyra, said: “I’ll bring something that a lot of people won’t have seen before, which is someone very young who’s outspoken and not afraid to speak their mind, or stand up for themselves. I also like to push my boundaries. I’m successful at my job and I have the ability to be articulate and socialise with other people, so I think I’ll be good in the game.”
