Experts from Celebs Go Dating are urging singletons to give dating apps a go.
Many Brits are still nervous to look for romance online. But relationship gurus Anna Williamson, Paul C Brunson and Tara Suwinyattichaiporn reckon they’re a great way to find The One. The trio, who helped celebs like Helen Flanagan during the new series of the hit show, think there shouldn’t be any stigma over using them.
Anna said: “I think apps are great. They’re an amazing invention. They can be a great opportunity. There is definitely a place for them, so long as they don’t fully replace meeting people in person.”

Paul added: “Apps are now the number one way people find a spouse. We have to appreciate the role they play in dating. It’s a great way to meet someone. And then you can date them in reality.”
Tara thinks apps are particularly useful if you’ve got unusual interests. She said: “Dating apps can help you find someone who likes the same things as you do. Things like open relationships and stuff like that. They’re also great if you live in the middle of nowhere, too. They enable people in areas like that to find each other.”
Apps including Tinder, Bumble and Hinge are used by millions of Brits. But they are famed for taking up loads of time and leaving some users feeling deflated.
Anna reckons it’s vital that you have the right mindset when you set up a profile. She said: “Don’t be negative. Some people have profiles with a list of things that they hate. They say, ‘I don’t want time wasters or someone who is narcisstic’. But that can be off-putting. It comes across really badly.
“The important thing about dating is figuring out what you want and why you want to date. Apps can overwhelm a lot of people. My advice would be that if you’re not in the right headspace, then take a break from them.”
Paul is also keen to encourage people to stay safe while using them.
He said: “It’s important not to give up your personal information too quickly. Keep the conversation on the app initially rather than giving someone your phone number. That way you’re less likely to get explicit photos you aren’t asking for.”
Anna, Paul and Tara regularly help stars find love on Celebs Go Dating. The new series features famous faces including former Corrie actress Helen and pop singer Jamelia.
