Coronation Street’s resident bad boy David Platt has got up to plenty of strange antics on the ITV cobbles – but in real life, actor Jack P Shepherd lives a life almost as wild.
The actor, who has played David since 2000, isn’t afraid to get candid about his personal life, and has dropped some wild confessions while filming his On The Sofa podcast alongside co-stars Colson Smith and Ben Price – Craig Tinker and Nick Tilsley, respectively.
The actor found love with his Corrie colleague Hanni Treweek, who worked on the soap as a storyline writer and researcher. Speaking to Daily Star, he confessed: “We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it.”

The pair later bumped into each other in Sainsbury’s, when he decided to text her. She said: “I texted her afterward and said ‘That was awkward’ and she told me she thought she looked a mess and then we started texting from there. I actually thought she looked fit – I just saw the girl I fancy wearing Lycra! We quickly went on our first date and we just clicked.”
‘Chop privates off’

Away from his love life with Hanni, Jack has admitted he would rather chop his member off rather than have his eyes taken out during a risqué game of Would You Rather on his podcast. Jack found the question simple, responding: “I’m obviously cutting off my d**k.”
While his co-stars looked on in horror, he exclaimed: “Obviously, I’m not cutting out my f***ing eyes!” while Colson “abstained” from answering. Jack pressed on: “You’ve gotta! You’ve gotta lose that. And they can actually sew it back on!”
He elaborated: “You see them people who have come off their motorbike or whatever. They’ve gone into some f***ing railings and it’s chopped off. And they they go hospital on a stretcher and they get it put back on!”

Things didn’t end there, as another episode showed the co-stars chatting about whether they can urinate with just their flies undone. Jack began the conversation by recounting: “I walked down the street the other day and my fly was undone.
“You know how I knew? Freezing! I thought, ‘It’s cold in November now, isn’t it?’” Then Colson chimed in to ask: “Do you ever – and I think this is a psychopath move if you do – do you ever just do fly down and get it out through the fly rather than undoing the button?”
Jack admitted he does “sometimes”, as Colson branded him a “f***ing weirdo”. Jack insisted: “I know! Because I don’t like the metal touching it. You know the metal teeth? They always remind me of mouse teeth.”
Ben, meanwhile “never undoes the button” and “just uses the gap” when he needs to go. Jack joked: “I do the full pull-down like I’m four, pants around my ankles!”
Sexy Wolverine

In 2020, Jack went viral when he stripped out of his shirt to imitate Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine – screaming until he was red in the face.
In a striking impersonation, Jack arranged his hair into the traditional square shape worn by Jackman in the X-Men films. He clutched items from his cutlery drawer between his fingers to imitate claws, and showed off his rippling muscles while growling and swiping at the TV.
Drenched in sweat, the role ended with a loud scream as he captioned his cheeky post: “Do I get the part? @thehughjackman.” His on-screen wife Julia Goulding couldn’t help but reply: “Very good but the KNIVES AND FORKS?!” while Brooke Vincent joked: “Why do you look like the mayor from The Grinch?”

Jack was left in hysterics when Colson recounted a story about his friend recording “orgasm” noises for an acting role – as Ben imitated the sounds he had to make while burning at the stake for The Tudors.
Ben explained: “Obviously, when you’re burned at the stake they can’t get a sound man in there and a mic. So I had to go back and do ADR of me being burned.” After a lot of yelling and squealing, Colson dropped the bombshell: “I met my mate, who had done a job, and they were in London doing a day ADRing in a booth.

“They’d finished the job like three months ago. When they were sat in the booth and had the script of what they had to do, it had numbers one to 12, and one was orgasm. Then two was ‘orgasm with laughter’. They went, ‘Any chance we can do these in reverse?’”
“We’ll work up to that!” Ben joked, as Jack fought to hold back giggles.
