Fans are worried that the latest series of ITV ‘s Dancing On Ice will be the last.
Episode one of the latest series of Dancing On Ice is currently airing on ITV, but viewers are speculating that various signs point to the show’s end. Fans flooded the #DancingOnIce tag on X (formerly Twitter), with quips about the show’s “low-budget” look.
One user wrote that the series: “ feels like a PoundLand Strictly “, with another agreeing, “So the Pound Shop Strictly is back! #DancingOnIce Gotta love trying to work out who the “celebs” are”. Other fans of the show have pointed out skating champions and Dancing On Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are both well into their sixties, and could be facing retirement soon.

One account wrote: “Don’t know why they keep making this. Torvill and Dean keep saying they’re were retiring. Only so many moves you can make on ice. Not the headbanger agajn hope someone falls on their ass to brighten it up !”
Other X users agreed, pointing to the show’s long, celebrated history as an indication of its value in the present. One account wrote: “Anyone else thinking this programme has had its day now or is it just me #DancingOnIce “.
Another user agreed, adding, “Why does this show feel like it’s from a bygone era? It feels low-budget, incredibly rushed and Mulhern is shouting over his co-host and the judges. Shambles. #DancingOnIce ”
Multiple viewers made reference to the show’s budget seeming a little thin this year for the winter show. Users joked that the money spent on casting and costume was noticeably different than usual.
One user wrote, “The celebrity budget a bit thin this year #DancingOnIce “. Others joked that they didn’t recognise the star-studded cast.
As well as labelling the series as one with a “lower budget”, viewers took to X to accuse the show of feeling ‘rushed’. One account shared: “Only 6 couples dancing in a 90 minute show isn’t great pacing… should have just done a 2 hour launch and given us a jam packed show to help everyone get into it”.
A separate account agreed, replying to the previous post:”90 minutes and always seemed rushed. So weird #DancingOnIce ” However, some fans praised the new, streamlined format. One user wrote, “No waffling about, straight into the first performance. Hope this continues.”
Series sixteen new host Stephen Mulhern, alongside the nation’s sweetheart, Holly Willoughby. The replacement came after Holly’s previous co-host, Phillip Schofield, publicly exited ITV after an affair scandal between himself and a young male runner.
Many were quick to welcome the new host, sharing glowing praise such as: “Welcome back Holly & welcome to Stephen. So glad he’s back on #DancingOnIce perfect host for the role.”
Other X users made humourous references to the absence of Phillip Schofield. One account wrote: “No sign of Philip. Maybe he’s stuck in traffic.” Another quipped: “Phillip Schofield right now #DancingOnIce ” accompanied by a GIF of a man destroying his TV.
