Emmerdale couple spark ‘split’ fears as newborn baby’s health woes causes friction

Emmerdale fans have warned Dawn Fletcher to not push her husband Billy away as the couple face the toughest hurdle in the marriage so far.

On Monday night’s show (May 20), Dawn was given further news on her son Evan’s condition and was told by the doctors that he doesn’t need a bone marrow transplant after all. But he will still need to undergo chemotherapy for a few years.

But although the news was fairly positive, Dawn’s main concern was that Billy didn’t attend the meeting with the doctor on time to hear the news about their son. When Billy did finally arrive after struggling to pay for a parking ticket, Dawn gave her husband a telling-off and told him she felt like she was doing everything on her own.

However, Billy hit back and reminded her that he was also looking after the children back at home. But Dawn went on to insinuate that Billy might be blaming her for Evan’s condition because of her old lifestyle.

As the pair continued their bitter exchange of words, fans at home warned Dawn to be careful that it doesn’t end her relationship for good. Heading over to X, one viewer said: “If Dawn carries on the way she is then I think her & Billy will break up.”

Another said: “Don’t get me wrong I like how Dawn has changed her life around but she’s out of order with Billy at the moment.” A third penned: “Dawn is pushing Billy away.”

Another echoed: “Dawn is gonna drive herself mad, she’s isolating herself and pushing Billy away.” Meanwhile, a fifth viewer suggested: “If I was Billy I would leave Dawn at the hospital and let her deal with the situation if that is what she wants. And if she says later you’re not doing anything Billy he can just say you didn’t want me there. The viewers would be on his side.”

Jay Kontzle, who plays Billy in Emmerdale, recently shared how difficult it’s been to play the heartwrenching story. He told Yahoo News: “I think it’s really important if you’re going to tell a story like this, you have to actually understand it from both aspects.

“I’ve got children myself. To actually go though that with a child and then see how it affects your personal lives and your relationships, everything does change.”
