Fans demand Netflix release Stranger Things season 5 ‘now’ after behind the scenes update

Stranger Things fans are demanding that Netflix release the new season ‘now’ after a behind the scenes update heightened excitement.

Season five of the hit series will be the show’s final outing and anticipation is mounting to see how the adventures of Eleven, Max, Mike, Steve and the rest of the gang will play out.

The streaming platform is yet to announce when viewers can begin to watch the latest episodes but they have demanded it sooner rather than later after it was revealed an Oscar-nominated director is set to come out of retirement to work on the show.

Speaking to the Daily Beast in celebration of The Shawshank Redemption’s 30th anniversary, Frank Darabont talked about how and why the Duffer brothers managed to convince him out of retirement to direct episodes of the upcoming Stranger Things series.

It will be the first time he is working in television since creating Mob City in 2013. Darabont also helped adapt The Walking Dead for the screen and served as showrunner for its first season.

He said: “What really dragged me out of retirement was that my wife and I really love this show. Our content now is so filled with horrible people doing horrible things for greedy reasons but Stranger Things has so much heart.

“That positivity is something I really responded to. I haven’t missed the business but I have missed being on set with creative people… It may well be one and done, but we’ve still got time.”

Fans are eagerly anticipating the final season of Stranger Things

Fans are incredibly excited about this revelation, with one fan posting on X, formerly Twitter: “How did I not know Frank Darabont was directing episodes of the final season of ‘STRANGER THINGS’? I’m even more pumped to see it now!”

Another agreed: “I had no idea that Frank Darabont is directing the final season of Stranger Things. This is amazing!”

While one fan was tired of waiting, as they said: “Need those new episodes now.”

He’s not the only high-profile director that appears to be returning to the set of Stranger Things.

Earlier this year, Shawn Levy, who was last seen at the helm of blockbuster hit Deadpool and Wolverine posted a photo of himself on the set, saying: “Hawkins ain’t quite done with me yet.”

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
