Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith issued an urgent apology as an interview he did about his niece came out just after she told the world about her cancer fight.
Kate’s uncle Gary, who was the first to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house, talked about why the Princess of Wales had stepped away from the spotlight in his interview with Saturday’s Times Magazine. The wealthy businessman pulled out of the final of the ITV show on Saturday (March 22) due to the news.
Unfortunately, it was poorly timed as it came just hours after Kate revealed her cancer news at 6pm on Friday evening (March 22). The Princess told everyone in a video that she has cancer and is getting chemo.

Gary, realising the awkward timing of his feature, rushed to social media to apologise and insisted he didn’t know about Kate’s cancer news at the time of the interview. He took to X with a statement.
He wrote to his fans: “As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday’s “Times Magazine”. This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article. I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies. Let’s give Kate, William and the children time and show some love back.”
One user replied: “I think you need to read the room,” and also said it might be better if he didn’t say anything more, reports the Mirror.
Kate’s announcement came after she underwent major abdominal surgery in January. She wrote: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.
“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”
