Police were called to the family home of James Morrison’s wife Gill Catchpole due to ‘concerns for her welfare’.
The mother-of-two was found dead at the Gloucestershire home she shared with James and her children at the age of 45 on Friday morning (January 5). Police are not treating her sudden death as suspicious.
While friends of the cafè owner had said Catchpole had spoke about positive and major changes for her life in 2024, it’s claimed police had attended her property just days before her passing. This was over welfare concerns.

The Broken Strings singer is said to be “devastated” over the loss of his wife and mother of his two daughters – Elise, aged 15 and Ada Rose, five. He has since cancelled all work commitments and new music.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “Police were called to Whitminster in Gloucester at around 9.10am on Friday following concerns for the welfare of a resident. Officers attended and the body of a woman in her 40s was found within an address.
“The death is being treated as non-suspicious at this time. The coroners and woman’s next of kin have been informed.”
It was reported that Catchpole had recently been looking for a house to rent – just 24 hours prior to her death. On Thursday (January 4), the catering business owner is said to have posted to a Whitminster Facebook group local to her area.
She wrote: “Looking for a house to rent in Whitminster ASAP. Please contact me if anyone knows or hears of anything.” A friend of Catchpole’s followed up with a further post, adding: “Gill is a very dear friend of mine. If anyone has any properties to rent preferably in the Whitminster area please let me know or message Gill directly.”
Catchpole’s sudden death comes as quite a shock after she’d undergone life-saving kidney transplant last year and appeared to be in good spirits about the year ahead. This after finding her balance after the surgery destroyed life as she knew it.

She hadn’t expected to see the year 2023 after her health issues but went on to inspire her community to carry on, even though life can often throw curve balls, Catchpole added: “I can tell you from experience it does get better”.
