Love Island’s Jake Cornish breaks silence after quitting ITV show in emotional scenes

Love Island star Jake Cornish has broken his silence after choosing to leave the ITV show’s All Stars series after just three days.

Cornish, 26, dramatically left the reality dating titan on Tuesday (January 16) in emotional scenes that left fans in tears. After walking in on the first day, the public were put in charge of who should be coupled up.

Jake was paired up with Liberty Poole, who was Jake’s sweetheart when they fell in love during the 2021 edition of the show. However, Liberty decided with days to go until the final that things were not right and so called the relationship off and walked from the show, with Jake leaving just days later.

After being brought in to the show for the All Star series, things did not go according to plan, as none of the original five girls stepped forward to be coupled up with the West Country lad. This, coupled with the awkward moment Jake and Liberty were reunited proved to be too much for Jake and he decided to walk from the show in tears.

Since his quit, Jake has reportedly been told he will only receive just £2,000 of his original appearance fee. But taking to Instagram on Thursday (January 18), Jake seemed to be alright with the way things worked out.

Posting a snap to his Instagram story, Jake could be seem smiling into the camera at the airport. Giving a peace sign to the camera, he wrote: “Love to you all, home time,” followed by a heart emoji and a house emoji.

He also added a picture of his pooch to the snap he posted whilst waiting to return to the UK. He added that he was beaming with joy to “get to see my boy,” which then was followed by a dog emoji.

Speaking about his exit, a source close to the show told The Sun: “Jake had a nice three days in the villa and had a very emotional chat to Maya Jama. Jake couldn’t stay in the villa so he quit the show – it’s not his time and it’s not the right time to find love.”

The insider added that neither of the old couple knew the other one was going to be there, which made the embarrassment feel worse. They added that for producers, “it was clear from the start they wouldn’t get back together”.
