BBC Breakfast was involved in a major shake-up just two days into the new year as Sally Nugent was nowhere to be seen.
The presenter, 52, normally presents alongside Jon Kay from Monday to Wednesday but was missing from the red sofa on Tuesday (January 2). Jon, 54, was joined by Sarah Campbell, who has worked for the BBC for more than 20 years.
The format change comes just one day after Sally was forced to present BBC Breakfast alone. Kicking off the show on New Year’s Day, the newsreader took up space all by herself on the red sofa.

Sally had no problem going solo, covering topics including the recent earthquake in Japan as well as the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza.
Sally’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, who rushed to social media to praise her. One wrote: “@sallynugent looking great this morning Sally great start to the year.”
Another shared: “@BBCBreakfast @sallynugent Good morning Sally Happy New Year to you. Thank you for bringing us the news so early in the mornings.”
A third penned: “@sallynugent happy new year Sally, I hope it brings you everything you wish for.” Sally was one of the famous faces who took part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, which aired on Christmas Day.
Paired with Graziano Di Prima, the duo performed the Foxtrot to Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Despite the impressive display, it was another celeb who took home the glistening Strictly Silver Star trophy.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced Jamie Borthwick, best known for playing Jay Brown on EastEnders, and his partner Nancy Xu as the Christmas champions.
In response to winning, the 29-year-old said: “This is great. It’s been a wonderful experience, but we’re all winners here.”
