Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila have opened up on why they decided to pack up and leave Hollywood.
The famous actor and his model wife swapped the glitz and glamour of LA for a more peaceful life in Texas, where Matthew grew up. They had been staying in Austin to deal with a family issue when they made the surprising choice to make it their forever home. Before this, they were living the dream in Malibu, where Camila even had her own bees making honey.
After spending some time in Texas, Camila noticed a change in Matthew. She told Southern Living magazine: “The gravity is very different in Texas.” It was during a drive back from Matthew’s mum’s house that they realised it was time for a change.

Camila saw a calm yet energetic look on Matthew’s face and asked him: “You want to move don’t you? ” To which Matthew, who was driving at the time, simply replied: “Yep.”, reports the Mirror.
After moving to Texas with their kids Levi, 11, Vida, 10, and Livingston, 7, Camila said things got much better. She shared: “Ritual came back, whether that was Sunday church, sports, dinner together as a family every night, or staying up after that telling stories in the kitchen, sitting at the island pouring drinks and nibbling while retelling them all in different ways than we told them before. “.
They also liked how life seemed to slow down. Matthew said: “Time slowed down. The clock was right. The body clock.” He added: “And part of that is ritual. Part of that is just the distance between places and the way people move. But it is also the hospitality, the courtesy, the common sense, the lack of drama.”
Life down South must be going well because Matthew and his wife Camila have just launched their own tequila. Their new drink is called Pantalones Organic Tequila, and they say it’s “the best thing we’ve made with our pants on”.
The couple tied the knot in 2012 and made a video for their tequila. It shows them riding motorbikes and holding hands, all without trousers on. In the video, Matthew asks Camila, “When did tequila stop being tequila? “.
The Pantalones Tequila range has three types of “super premium organic tequila”: Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo. The Blanco tastes like honey and citrus. The Reposado is kept for nine months and tastes fruity with a hint of fresh oak. The Anejo is aged for 15 months and you can taste vanilla, butterscotch, and maple in it.
The couple said about their new tequila: “The world doesn’t need another celebrity tequila, but tequila sure could use a kick in the pants. Pantalones Organic Tequila is the best thing we’ve made with our pants on.”
