Jessel Taank has admitted there was one big reason she joined the rebooted Real Housewives of New York City cast.
The show, which is available to stream on Hayu in the UK, first launched in 2008 and became a fan-favourite, with the likes of Ramona Singer and Countess Luann de Lesseps kicking things off. But in 2022, it was announced the next season would be completely re-cast after a negative reaction to the previous run of episodes.
In came Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Brynn Whitfield and Jessel Taank to introduce the new generation. The second season of the reboot also brought in Racquel Chevremont.

The brand new cast is one of the most diverse group of ladies on any Real Housewives show, bringing in many different cultures and sexualities. And, speaking to Daily Star ahead of the Hayu FanFest in London, Jessel admitted “that was one of the biggest reasons” she decided to sign up for the show.
She told us: “New York is such a cultural melting pot, and the DNA of the city is so diverse. Hopefully we showcase that, we’re like a microcosm of what the city is.”
Despite the range of interesting experiences the new ladies bring to the show, Jessel confessed “it was so nerve wracking” to be part of it.
“I remember the moment when Andy [Cohen], during BravoCon, introduced is. I was half expecting people to boo us off stage.
“New York is such an OG franchise, it’s been running for 13 years and people are so invested in these women. Then for us to just come in and stand in their shoes, it’s big.”
She added: “We’ve definitely got big shoes to fill. I hope we’ve proved ourselves at this point.”
