Strictly star forced to call police after yob hits her in terrifying street attack

A Strictly Come Dancing star was left utterly shaken after they were hit in the face in a horrifying street attack.

BBC Asian Network star Nikita Kanda, who competed in the latest series of the ballroom competition, was forced to call the police on Thursday afternoon (March 7). The star revealed how she was seemingly targeted at random while walking on the street.

The TV star, 28, took to Instagram after the horrifying to share the terrifying ordeal. She wrote: “Today something really scary happened and I feel the need to share it.

“After finishing my show today, I was walking underground at Oxford Circus station minding my own business looking at my phone and a random guy decided to hit me in the face for no reason at all and laughed about it.”

She went on to share how upset she was by the terrifying ordeal, adding: “I’m in utter shock that someone could do this. I’ve lived in London my whole life and something like this has never happened.

“I would like to think I’m very street wise and always aware of my surroundings. Luckily, I’m not hurt, the big sunglasses I wear actually protected my face in some way.

“It’s just absolutely disgusting that someone can do this in broad daylight and what was even more sad no one around me cared or batted an eye lid that someone just hit me in public.”

The radio presenter reassured fans that she wasn’t injured, and the police are now dealing with the situation. Nikita continued: “The police are dealing with it and taking it very seriously, but I thought it was important to share if you are walking alone or if you travel alone a lot like I do just to be careful.

“There are some very nasty people out there and this has just opened my eyes and shook me up tbh. What kind of world do we live in.” Daily Star has reached out to The Met police for a further statement.

Nikita first rose to fame in July 2022 when she temporarily presenter the Asian Network Breakfast Show for a colleague. Fans enjoyed listening to her so much that she was appointed a permanent host one year later in January 2023.

The star gained wider exposure when she joined the cast of Strictly months later, although her time on the BBC dance competition was short-lived. She became the second star to be eliminated from the show after veteran entertainer Les Dennis.

Her final performance saw her take on the role of Cher from the 1995 film Clueless on Movie Week. But she failed to wow the judges and was soon sent packing.

British Transport Police have been contacted regarding the incident.
