The Chase’s Bradley Walsh slams player as baffling accent leaves him gobsmacked

Bradley Walsh recently ripped into one player who stepped up to play on his gameshow The Chase.

Andrea made her way to the podium and introduced herself with a thick American accent, but when Walsh asked her where she was from, the U.S. born contestant told him she was from Wolverhampton. Bradley responded: “Yeah, that’s a Wolverhampton accent…I’ve been to Wolverhampton many, many times and they sound just like you…in fact, it’s extraordinary really!”

After a few giggles, Andrea revealed that she is “originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, before she explained that she was “on her way to New Zealand” when she met her “now-husband at the train station in Newcastle” and never left.

Viewers flocked to, X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on her unconventional move and someone sarcastically wrote: “From Cinncinatti… to Wolverhampton. I can see the appeal.” Other fans slammed the player for taking the low offer after her cash builder round.

Andrea explained she’s originally from the U.S.

Andrea decided to play it safe and return back to her team, but some viewers were clearly unimpressed with her tactics. Someone wrote: “Andrea wanted Reece to go for the £55k to make up for the paltry £1k she brought to the table – we see you parasite,” as another post read: “If Andrea wanted £1000 she might as well have gone on Pointless.”

Some viewers found Andrea quite charming and one person even said: “I need to have a day out with Andrea! She just had the best personality ever.”

Walsh couldn’t resist roasting the contestant’s response

Andrea’s appearance on the show comes after The Chase recently debuted a “new Chaser” after a technical blunder. Host Bradley Walsh asked the contestant, Mark, who he’d like to compete against out of all the Chaser’s available.

Hilariously, the guest said he’d like to go up against “The Duchess,” which left the studio, his co-stars and Bradley in fits of giggles – he’d meant to say The Governess, referring to Anne Hegerty.

Walsh couldn’t resist taking the mickey out of his new guest and said: “The Duchess! The Duchess! Oh, so we have a new Chaser! That’s news to me there, Mark!” Viewers also rushed over to X to share their thoughts and one person joked that “The Duchess is their favourite Chaser”.
