Jack Woodman, who appeared on Bodyshockers, carried out a five year campaign of abuse on his girlfriend Crystal Taff who has now pressed charges against the Channel 4 star
Channel 4’s Bodyshockers star Jack Woodman has been given a two and a half years in prison after he admitted to savagely attacking his girlfriend, Crystal Taff, leading to a broken jaw among other injuries.
In a horrifying five-year onslaught of violence, he also threatened to set her alight and yanked out chunks of her hair.
Despite being heavily pregnant, courageous Crystal stood her ground against Woodman in court as she recounted the terror he brought upon her, now nurturing a newborn baby girl who arrived just last month.
In a chilling testimony at Bristol Crown Court back in February, she detailed how Woodman unleashed his fury on her not once, but three times, shattering the sanctity of their home in front of their two young kids. The verdict was damning: guilty of grievous bodily harm and two counts of actual bodily harm.
The court listened to the evidence that painted a picture of Woodman’s relentless cruelty, including tales of him ripping out Crystal’s hair and menacing her with searing hot straighteners.
At 33, pawnshop boss Woodman saw his relationship with Crystal crumble after five tumultuous years and two children together. Reports claim Crystal made her escape from their shared domicile, a house also inhabited by Woodman’s mother, fleeing the alleged abusive escapades in 2022, reports the Mirror.
According to the Sun, Woodman now faces incarceration for his crimes. In the aftermath of the court’s decision, Crystal’s stepfather Dave Priddle didn’t mince his words, declaring: “This was the sentence the family needed for the pain and torment Woodman has put Crystal through.”
Woodman has finally achieved his twisted desire for fame, but at a terrible cost. The stepfather of the victim declared: “Woodman has now got what he always craved – to be famous. This is a victory not only for my step-daughter but for all women who have to suffer domestic violence and control and coercive behaviour.”
He continued with a scathing remark: “Woodman made Crystal’s life a living nightmare until she finally snapped and ran away from him with their two children. All he was ever worried about was himself and his relentless pursuit of being famous.”
The stepfather further commented on the outcome of the trial: “Woodman has now got what he always craved – to be famous. But that fame has come at a massive price. The jury obviously saw through the lies he was telling and didn’t think he was a credible character.”
During the trial, prosecutor Caitlin Evans laid bare the brutal reality: “This case is about Jack Woodman beating his partner and mother of his two children, breaking her jaw and pulling her hair out.”
Evans detailed a specific incident: “On Father’s Day in 2022, he punched Ms Taffs after she came to pick him up following a night out at a casino in which he had lost a considerable amount of money.”
Crystal herself recounted the harrowing abuse: “One day I had agreed to cut my brother’s hair but Jack wouldn’t let me go until I had cleaned all the TVs in the pawnshop. He wasn’t happy with the standard of my cleaning of the TVs and he said I was a lazy b****.”
She described a violent episode: “He was facing me and punched me in the right side of the face which was agony. I said I think you’ve knocked my teeth out and he said ‘If you don’t shut up I’ll make sure I knock the other teeth out’. I was very panicky as it just didn’t feel right.”
She recounted the harrowing experience: “He made me stay in the shop and I sent a text to my stepmum apologising that I couldn’t cut my brother’s hair today. I didn’t tell anybody what had happened. I was in pain and very anxious and very scared. I didn’t know if anything was broken but I carried on working as normal at Jack’s Cash.
“I went to A&E because I physically couldn’t eat as it was too painful and so went to A&E but it was far too busy and [I] was told that it would be up to five hours. I was conscious that Jack would come home that evening and so I went back to his house.”
The next day, she sought medical attention and discovered the extent of her injuries. Crystal revealed she was assaulted by Woodman during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.
Describing the assault, she said: “It was a verbal argument but I do remember him pulling my hair which was something he often did,” and added, “He reached across and just pulled out a clump of my hair and left me with a bald patch. I was really upset and started to cry when I looked in the mirror.”
