Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were sadly found dead in their mansion back in February and Betsy’s final internet searches have been discovered
Gene Hackman’s wife Betsy Arakawa made some haunting internet searches shortly before her death.
The 65-year-old sadly died back in February in the mansion she shared with the Hollywood actor. It was determined that she died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare disease that is linked to rodents.
According to a report released by authorities, it has been discovered that on 8 and 12 February Betsy’s computer searched medical conditions linked to Covid-19 and flu symptoms.
Betsy searched whether Covid-19 can cause dizziness or nosebleeds and her final internet search was for a healthcare provider in their local area.
It was also discovered that Betsy had sent an email to her masseuse requesting to reschedule her appointment “out of an abundance of caution” as Gene had woken feeling unwell. However, she did inform the masseuse that Gene had tested negative for Covid-19.
Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome can exhibit signs of flu-like symptoms and severe respiratory struggles. Gene died roughly a week after Betsy, reportedly from heart disease.
He had also been living with Alzheimer’s which was reportedly a contributor to his death. This may also explain why he did not notice that his wife had died.
Gene and Betsy and their dog Zinna, who likely died from dehydration and starvation, were found on 26 February.
Following the couple’s death, the star’s daughters Elizabeth, Leslie and Annie Hackman released a statement after the heartbreaking news was made public.
In their tribute, the daughters said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy.”
“He was loved and admired by millions around the world for his brilliant acting career, but to us he was always just Dad and Grandpa.”
“We will miss him sorely and are devastated by the loss,” they continued.
Film fans will recognise Gene from his role as Lex Luthor in the Superman movies as well as his other roles in Mississippi Burning, Unforgiven, Crimson Tide and The Poseidon Adventure.
