Inside Gene Hackman’s wife’s heart-wrenching Amazon order that arrived hours before death

Betsy Arakawa and her Hollywood legend husband Gene Hackman were found dead at their New Mexico home in February, with their deaths mystifying fans across the globe

Two months after her passing, the final purchase of Betsy Arakawa has been unveiled. Betsy, 65, and her renowned actor husband Gene Hackman, 95, were tragically found dead in their New Mexico abode back in February.

But as more details have emerged since that sorrowful finding, it has been discovered that Betsy succumbed to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare malady spread by rodents. She passed away a week before Gene, whose death was attributed to “hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer’s disease as a significant contributory factor”.

With Gene’s condition, it remains unclear whether he knew of his wife’s death. Now, the spotlight has turned to Betsy’s last Amazon purchase, believed to have been ordered mere hours prior to her demise.

Online investigations reveal that the accomplished pianist snapped up oxygen canisters from Amazon on February 11, which is just one day before her determined date of death.

The purpose of these items is for “respiratory support”, indicating that either she or Gene was having difficulty breathing. Some manufacturers claim that the regular use of oxygen containers can combat fatigue and act as a natural detoxifier, reports the Mirror.

Further browsing history indicated Betsy sought information on health concerns. Her computer bookmarks, both from February 8 and the morning of February 12, expose a trail of her pursuits.

The data indicates that Betsy was actively searching for medical insights related to COVID-19 and symptoms resembling the flu.

Her online searches revealed Betsy trying to find answers to symptoms like dizziness and nosebleeds potentially related to COVID-19. Specific search queries included “Can Covid cause dizziness?” and “Flu and nosebleeds”, offering insight into her health concerns.

One primary symptom of hantavirus is severe headaches, affecting about half of patients. Although nosebleeds are not typical of this virus.

Betsy passed away several days before Gene

A health assessment conducted by the New Mexico Department of Public Health a week after the discovery of the bodies found multiple dead rodents and rodent nests in eight separate outbuildings on the couple’s $4million property. This created an ideal breeding ground for the deadly hantavirus, according to a report by TMZ.

In addition to her online searches and purchases, multiple medications were laid out on the couple’s bathroom counter and her final emails detailed the severity of her condition. A particular email to her masseuse – sent about a day before her death – revealed her struggles with symptoms.

At the time, she suspected COVID-19, despite testing negative. She similarly mentioned Gene waking up with flu-like symptoms, but he also received a negative test result.

In the message, Betsy explained that she was rescheduling the massage “out of an abundance of caution”, hinting at her growing concern about the unidentified sickness affecting them.
