EXCLUSIVE: Love Island 2025 star Tommy Bradley has revealed his grandad came up with a cunning plan for him to communicate with his loved ones while on the ITV show
Love Island 2025 star Tommy Bradley could be sending a sneaky message to his loved ones from the villa.
The 22-year-old gardener from Hertfordshire is heading into the villa to try and find love. He says he needs to find a girlfriend as nearly all of his mates are in relationships and he doesn’t want to miss out.
Tommy will be cracking on in the new series, which kicks off on Monday (June 9) at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. But if you catch him flipping his baseball cap around by the firepit, it’s because he’s letting his family back home know he’s thinking about them.
Fans of the show know that islanders aren’t able to communicate with the outside world as their phones are taken off them. However, past stars have found creative ways to send messages to their loved ones watching them at home.
For example, Ekin-Su used to plait her hair to let her best pal Arabella Ovenden know she’s feeling homesick and missing her. Tommy has revealed his grandad cooked up a plan for Tommy to say hi to his family, but the soon-to-be Islander wasn’t so sure.
Asked if he was going to send any signs to the outside world, he told Daily Star: “Last week I went to my grandad’s house to pick up one of his spare suitcases and obviously we were talking about it [the show]. He was like, ‘Can you give us a signal when you’re in there to let us know you’re thinking of us?’
“I was like, ‘I don’t know grandad, what do I do?’ Then he was like, ‘I’ve got an idea,’. I said, ‘What’s your idea?’. I had my baseball cap on…
“He said, ‘When you’re thinking of us, turn your baseball cap sideways.’ I said , ‘I can’t do that, grandad, walking around with a sideways baseball cap!’. Other than that, I’ve not really spoken to anyone about the signals, only a joke I had with my grandad.”
Tommy also admitted he has a rather elaborate hair routine that involves wearing a wooly hat to keep his locks in-tact.
“I’ve got to make sure my hair’s looking sharp. I think my hair and my smile are two best features. People laugh all the time. I shampoo my hair like two or three times a week.
“I have my own little routine where make sure it’s nice and clean, spend about half an hour blow drying it, then I put my hair styling powder in, comb it all back, then after all that I do something really strange which a lot of people laugh about.
“After I comb my hair back, I put a wooly hat on, and I go to bed with my wooly hat on, and then overnight it will settle and keep it nice and slicked back so it doesn’t get messed up in my sleep.”
Asked what he thinks the girls in the villa will make of the hat routine, he said: “I don’t know, it’s a little bit weird, isn’t it? Just me in my boxers with a wooly hat on. I don’t know! I can’t have my hair looking bad…”
Asked what his type is, Tommy said: “A girl who is very ambitious, with a big personality, caring, but also someone that doesn’t take themselves too seriously.”
“I don’t know if that’s asking for too much, but I want a bit of everything. I haven’t got a specific type in terms of looks, though.”
