Noel Gallagher calls Oasis guitarist Bonehead 'the most appalling singer'

Noel Gallagher has dubbed Bonehead one of the worst singers he’s ever heard.

Bonehead – real name Paul Arthurs – is a former Oasis member and the group’s rhythm guitarist, and was part of the band when they first formed in 1991.

Speaking on Matt Morgan’s Funny How? podcast earlier this month, the High Flying Birds frontman opened up about the band’s decision to have Bonehead sing on an Oasis song, alas his vocals weren’t quite up to scratch.

Citing The Beatles and how they always used to have “one [song] for Ringo,” Noel explained: “We were always going to have one for Bonehead.”

However, it didn’t turn out as they hoped as Noel labelled Bonehead’s singing as “really s**t”.

“We tried to do it on both albums and it turned out sh*t, which I know is kind of the point right, but it was like really sh*t,'” he added.

“And I kid you f***ing not, [he was] maybe the most appalling singer I’ve ever heard in my entire life.

Noel concluded: “Appalling. No sense of anything.”

While the veteran musician didn’t take too kindly to Bonehead’s vocal ability, he was full of praise for estranged brother Liam’s singing talents and recalled when he first hear his sibling sing.

Speaking on another episode of Matt Morgan’s Funny How? podcast, he recalled: “The first time I ever heard him sing was on stage in the f***ing Boardwalk and I was like, ‘Oh he sounds like Ian Brown’.”

Noel explained that has the band progressed so did Liam’s Voice and he started writing tracks that fit with his range.

“As the songs got better, he got better.

“When I started writing the songs, I was writing songs and quickly sussed out the entire key structure was too low for Liam.”

He added: “So when you hear the early stuff the songs are not very good and he’s not very good, but as I’m starting to write better songs for him, we all got better at the same time”.
