Prince Harry needs to heal Will rift to save his future with Meghan, says expert

Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship has been allegedly strained over the last few years or so, with several reports suggesting the brothers no longer speak.

And according to accounts, the last time the brothers were in the same room together was during a Commonwealth Day Service last year, with the alleged tension between the boys being fairly noticeable.

Due to the revelations from the explosive interview that Harry and Meghan did with Oprah Winfrey which aired on ITV last month, it is clear that the sibling’s relationship could be, understandably, somewhat troubled.

Prince William and Harry will both attend their grandfather’s funeral on Saturday, but because the Dutchess is heavily pregnant with her second child, she will not be in attendance.

As rumours continue to circulate about the brother’s ongoing feud, many believe that Harry needs to mend his relationship with Will or his and Meghan’s future could be left uncertain in the monarchy.

Speaking to Daily Star, Royal commentator and PR expert Anthony Burr, of Burr Media, explained how the brothers can potentially move on.

Anthony said: “Harry will be on his own with his brother, William, and sister-in-law, Kate, for Philip’s funeral and this could present the perfect opportunity to ‘clear the air’ following the Oprah interview.

“We all know how tight Will, Harry and Kate were a few years ago and there is no doubt that a strong bond remains. This is the chance to talk things through and William can demonstrate how the Royal family can support Meghan and Harry going forward.”

The expert added: “William and Kate are the future of the Royal family, if the Royal family is to have any future at all.

“Indeed, one could say that any reputational capital that Harry and Meghan cash in on, is reliant on William and Kate. If I was Harry then this is a mission to heal the rift and make sure that they are on good terms and they have no more public spats.

“If this works out well, then in years to come, the UK will have a Royal family headed by King William and Queen Katherine with Harry and Meghan acting as the perfect US ambassadors.

“If it doesn’t, Harry and Meghan could be cast into the wilderness and should the likes of a future pandemic or a financial crisis destabilise the UK, then the Royal family’s relevance and very existence would be in question. Their wealth and use of it will no longer be ignored during times of national hardship.”

Since the Oprah Winfrey interview, many Brits have started to have a divided view on The Royal Family as a whole – which Anthony believes can also be repaired.

Anthony explained: “The Royal Family’s relationship with the British public is on a constant yo-yo. And the factions within it, even more so.

“Once a faction is created in the Windsors, as documented by the influence on the family starting from Wallis Simpson, to Diana, Princess of Wales and most recently Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, we then begin to find out who the ‘traditional royalists’ are and who the ‘nouveau royalists’ are amongst the public and commentators.

“Those who want the Royal family to stay the same, and those with the more progressive view that change needs to happen and the injection of new blood, such as Meghan Markle, is a good thing.”
