When the scenes aired on Friday night (December 30), viewers at home were convinced that Summer’s surrogacy won’t be plain sailing.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer used the Corrie hashtag and penned: “Yes Summer, and to think you were going to Oxford!!! That baby nonsense will backfire spectacularly….it won’t be a turkey baster…more like being coerced into sleeping with that vile Mike.”

“This creepy couple look like they have Summer there trapped until she gives birth,” penned a second.

On Reddit one person speculated: “I still think he will at least attempt to impregnate Summer ‘the old-fashioned way’. But hopefully someone will rescue her before he gets to do the dirty deed.”

While another added: “Summer’s current situation is a bit ‘modern slavery’ to me.”
