Nicole Kidman unrecognisable as wild-haired teen in BMX Bandits breakout role

Nicole Kidman looks unrecognisable in a wild-haired throwback snap from her breakout role.

The Australian actress was just a 16-year-old girl when she starred in the 1983 action film BMX Bandits. In the crime comedy-action movie Kidman sported wild red curly hair alongside her co-stars Angelo D’Angelo and James Lugton.

Nowadays the fully fledged Hollywood star looks very different as she has replaced her curly locks with straight long strawberry blonde tresses. The 56-year-old has become one of the biggest draws to the silver screen since ditching her mag wheels in favour of racier pursuits.

As the movie marked 40 years since its release Kidman spoke to the Sydney Morning Herald, about her time shooting her first feature film.

“I do remember having fun, an enormous amount of fun,” she said.

“And when I was starting out I was like, I’m meant to be serious [as an actress], but the thing with BMX was, oh, you can kind of have fun too. There has to be element of play to all of it.”

Perhaps one of Kidman’s best known roles is in Stanley Kubrick’s erotic mystery psychological drama Eyes Wide Shut.

The actress plays Alice Harford who reveals to her husband, played by Tom Cruise, that she considered having an affair just a year prior to their conversation.

The doctor then has a long adventure through the night and the film follows him as he infiltrates a secret society hosting a masked orgy.

Away from the silver screen, Kidman has admitted that her husband “doesn’t know much” about “what she’s really doing” on set – including her steamy sex scenes.

Speaking to E! News Daily Pop, Nicole said: “My husband is an artist, so he understands all of it and he also does not get involved.” She then elaborated and admitted that Keith doesn’t have much control over her career anyway.

Kidman said: “He sees the show at the very end when it’s a show, all edited together, and he’s fresh eyes.

“He doesn’t read any script, he really doesn’t know what’s going on on the set, he’s got his own career that he’s completely absorbed in. He doesn’t know much about what I’m really doing.”
