TV icon Lorraine Kelly faced embarrassment over mishap on her ITV show.
On Monday (May 13), Lorraine had been chatting about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s trip to Nigeria. She was in conversation with the royal correspondent Russell Myers to discuss their trip, which featured Meghan meeting a distinguished young guest.
While rolling video from their journey, Lorraine remarked: “It was a sort of royal tour but much more relaxed in a sense of the sort of things they were doing, the way Meghan was chatting and how she looked.”

Myers commented that there had been “a lot of discussion about her outfits” and she’d been advised on what to wear for proper fitting at the event. He added: “There is a level of freedom that they have, they were welcomed with open arms.”
In response, Lorraine claimed their trip was “all good stuff”, seeing an agreement from Myers. However, an awkward silence followed when Lorraine continued delving into Meghan’s motherhood musings after a VT wasn’t shown.
Spotting the hiccup, Lorraine giggled: “Oh, I thought we were playing a wee clip then, I’m not firing on all cylinders this morning”, reports the Express.
The Royal expert, Myers, quickly saved the situation by proceeding to explain what Meghan had told him instead. The latest episode of the show aired just a day after the 2024 BAFTA TV Awards, where the host was honoured with the Special Award for her significant contribution to television.
This Morning’s Ben Shephard kicked off today’s show donning a kilt in tribute to the Scottish presenter. Before inviting her on stage, he announced: “Good Morning, I’m Ben Shephard and I’m very privileged to be here for a very good reason this morning.”
He added: “Today, we are celebrating Lorraine being awarded the special BAFTA last night for her incredible contribution to television over the last 40 years. So please, put your hands together to welcome the wonderful Lorraine.”
As the audience erupted into cheers and applause, and confetti filled the air, the host became visibly moved as she made her way onto the set. Immediately commenting on Ben’s outfit, she exclaimed: “Ben Shephard in a kilt! Look at you, you look so beautiful.”
“I don’t get my knees out for just anyone Lorraine,” he quipped back. The presenter then expressed her gratitude to her colleagues for the warm reception and applauded her “great team”.
Lorraine was presented with the award in recognition of her remarkable 40-year contribution to the television industry. In her acceptance speech, she extended her thanks to her team and family, and shared her excitement about becoming a grandmother for the first time.
