P Diddy to languish in jail after $50m bail bid for sex trafficking charges is rejected

P Diddy will remain in jail ahead of his May 2025 trial on sex-trafficking charges after his bid to be freed on bail was dismissed.

It comes after a U.S judge denied his bid to be released on $50m (£39m) bail from the Brooklyn jail where the music mogul has been held for 10 weeks.

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian announced the decision in a written order, after hearing arguments during a two-hour hearing on November 22 in Manhattan federal court.

The rapper and producer pleaded not guilty on September 17 to charges that he used his business empire, including his record label Bad Boy Entertainment, to sexually abuse women.

One of P Diddy’s lawyers, Marc Agnifilo, said, if allowed out, there wasn’t a risk Combs would act violently.

“There’s a zero percent chance of that happening,” Agnifilo said.

The rapper apologised in May after a video came out showing him kicking, shoving and dragging then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel hallway. Agnifilo said he had never denied the incident.

“It’s our defence to these charges that this was a toxic, loving 11-year relationship,” Agnifilo told the court.

His lawyers argued he should be confined to an apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where he would be watched around the clock by private security personnel he would pay for, and be would not be allowed to have any contact with alleged victims or witnesses.

But prosecutors said it was unlikely P Diddy would abide by those rules.

They had good reason to say this.

From behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center, the rapper has used other inmates’ identification numbers to make phone calls in violation of jail policy.
