Wayne Lineker shares heartbreaking health update from hospital and faces Christmas alone

Wayne Lineker, Ibiza club boss and brother of Gary, has revealed his terrifying battle with pneumonia left him “unable to walk”, and now faces the heartbreak of major surgery

Gary Lineker’s brother Wayne Lineker, owner of O Beach in Ibiza, has candidly shared a worrying health update. After a terrifying near-death experience, he may now have to spend Christmas alone if his condition doesn’t improve.

The 63-year-old was urgently admitted to hospital earlier this month. He was subsequently treated in intensive care.

Wayne consequently revealed he was battling “extremely dangerous” pneumonia that has left him “unable to walk”. Now, the Celebs Go Dating star has shared that he faces possible major surgery.

Wayne shared a more heartbreaking update while in hospital as he is still receiving treatment for pneumonia, which almost took his life.

From his hospital bed, Wayne told fans that despite diligently following all the rehabilitation exercises recommended by his doctors, he might still be facing major surgery. “I know I look a bit rough,” he said.

He continued: “But, I’ve been through a lot this past couple of days.” Wayne explained that “parts of my lungs, weren’t clearing of the phlegm, and were very stubborn,” so doctors have him doing breathing exercises “daily, well hourly and being more active around the room.”

He’s currently on strong antibiotics in hopes of clearing the infection, but if there’s no improvement by Monday (December 22), he said he’ll be “in for an operation” that day or the following Tuesday, The Sun reported. “It’s a keyhole surgery and then they’ll go in and do what’s called a washout, and wash my lungs out and hopefully that will be the end of it,” Wayne explained.

“It will be touch and go whether I’ll be going home for Christmas,” Wayne added. “There’s your update. Thanks guys.”
