'Clarice' First Trailer Offers Flashback to Haunting Moment From 'Silence of the Lambs'

    CBS

In the 48-second long trailer for ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ TV sequel, Rebecca Breeds, who plays Clarice on the show, appears to be haunted by someone from the 1991 movie.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – CBS has revealed the first trailer for “Clarice”, a TV sequel to “The Silence of the Lambs”. Arriving on Tuesday, December 8, the trailer hints that Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) is still being haunted by the death of serial killer Buffalo Bill, who was played by Ted Levine in the 1991 movie.
The 48-second long video opens with requisite sad music while images of forests, rivers, sewer tunnels and other places flicker on the screen. Later, an image of Bill, who was shot to death by Clarice (Jodie Foster) in the movie, is glimpsed.

While the trailer shows Bill, it doesn’t give any sign of presence of Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins in the film). He is the serial killer who helped Clarice catch Buffalo Bill, but he managed to escape himself.

“Clarice” is set in 1993, six months after the events of “The Silence of the Lambs”. The new series will feature “a deep dive into the untold personal story of FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high stakes political world of Washington, D.C.”
Breeds’ Clarice is described as someone who is brilliant and vulnerable. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from UVA with a double major in Psych and Criminology, she draws monster and madmen to her with her bravery. Her challenging childhood leads her to her complex psychological makeup, while her drive comes from her desire to escape the burden of haunting family secrets.
Alex Kurtzman (“Star Trek: Discovery”) and his frequent collaborator Jenny Lumet wrote and executive produce the series. In addition to Breeds, “Clarice” will star Kal Penn (“Designated Survivor”), Michael Cudlitz (“The Walking Dead”), Nick Sandow (“Orange Is the New Black”), Lucca De Oliveira (“SEAL Team”) and Marnee Carpenter (“Criminal Minds”) among others.
“Clarice” is scheduled to premiere on February 11, 2021 on CBS.

Joy Behar Thinks 'The Crown' Needs to Be 'Responsible' by Adding Disclaimer

    WENN/Netflix/Joseph Marzullo

In other news, the streaming giant admits that it made up Princess Diana (Emma Corrin)’s singing scene in one of the episodes of the show to add dramatic touch.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – The ladies of “The View” discussed the controversy surrounding Netflix’s royal family drama “The Crown”, which received huge backlash over its depiction of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s tumultuous marriage in season 4. While Netflix previously insisted that it didn’t need a fiction disclaimer, co-host Joy Behar thought that it was necessary.
Alluding that it was the streaming giant’s responsibility to make it clear that “The Crown” is a work of fiction, Joy said, “They should be more responsible, frankly, because these people are still alive.” She went on saying, “You have to be careful.”
In response to Whoopi Goldberg who thought a disclaimer wasn’t needed because “The Crown” is not a documentary, Joy reasoned, “It is a very good idea to at least inform the public that this is not an alternative fact show. Alright? Because it’s enough that we’ve had alternative facts for the past four years.”

She went on noting that Prince Charles and Camilla “are getting all these hate messages on Twitter” from the viewers. “He’s going to be the next king. He is. She’s going to die at some point, right?” she added, “In this kind of thing, there are a lot of people who think it’s a documentary.” Sarah Haines echoed the sentiment, saying, “It doesn’t hurt the work at all or the creative process to just slap a disclaimer to make sure there’s no confusion that this is a work of fiction.”
Netflix, meanwhile, previously revealed in a statement that it didn’t have plan to add a disclaimer on the series. “We have always presented ‘The Crown’ as a drama — and we have every confidence our members understand it’s a work of fiction that’s broadly based on historical events,” the streamer said in a statement. “As a result we have no plans — and see no need — to add a disclaimer.”
In other news, Netflix admitted that it made up Princess Diana’s singing scene on the series. In an episode, the late royal family member, who is played by Emma Corrin, was seen singing “All I Ask of You” from “Phantom of the Opera” with an orchestra on a West End stage as a wedding anniversary present for Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor).
Jessica Hobbs, who directed the episode, shared in a podcast that while the real Lady Diana did perform a dance routine to the number from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical for their seventh wedding anniversary, she didn’t sing. She decided to add the singing scene to add dramatic touch after hearing Emma’s voice which made her think that it would “break viewers’ hearts.”

Katherine Heigl Cannot Wait to Play First-Ever Woman to Run for President in 'Woodhull'

    WENN/Patricia Schlein

Tapped to star as trailblazer Victoria Woodhull, the former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star gushes that she has ‘been enthralled and deeply invested in bringing her life story to the screen.’

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katherine Heigl has signed on to play Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for U.S. president, in a new series.
Heigl will lead the cast of “Woodhull” and executive produce. The project will be based on multiple biographies, according to Deadline.
The then-34 year old became the first woman to run for president as the leader of the Equal Rights Party in 1872. Her running mate was abolitionist leader Frederick Douglas.
The feminist icon was the first woman to address the U.S. Congress and, alongside her sister, became the first woman to operate a brokerage firm on Wall Street. The sisters also founded a newspaper.

Woodhull was accused of blackmail and prostitution, arrested and charged on the eve of the presidential election.
The drama and subsequent acquittal prompted U.S. leaders to pass the 1873 Comstock Laws.
“The moment I discovered the almost too-big-to-be-true story of Victoria I have been enthralled and deeply invested in bringing her life story to the screen,” Heigl said. “Victoria’s outrageous courage, determination, intelligence and hutzpah would be remarkable in our modern times but was downright revolutionary in hers.”
“Her name and her story has not been celebrated nearly enough for the trails she blazed and the paths she forged for all the women who came after her. I cannot wait to tell the story of this woman who would not be stopped in a time that forbade her to even start.”

'Bachelorette' Recap: A Contestant Shocks Tayshia Adams With Bold Move After Elimination

    ABC

The new episode of the ABC series also sees the suitors taking a lie detector test in which Zac admits to cheating and Riley says that it’s not his real name.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelorette” season 16 returned with a new episode on Tuesday, December 8. The new outing opened with what was left in the previous episode in which Tayshia Adams confronted Bennett for “questioning” her integrity. He apologized for it though he continued arguing with Noah.
It was then time for Tayshia to hand out the rose to someone and it was not Bennett. He was upset and tried to convince Tayshia that he never questioned her intergrity. Tayshia admitted she felt bad after sending Bennett home and when she saw Noah smiling over Bennett’s elimination, she told him that it wasn’t a win for him either. Taysha said that she would keep him around for the rose ceremony as she made her mind up.
That pissed Noah off and he felt more upset seeing Tayshia spending time with other men. She was seen sitting down with Brendan, who said, “I feel like me and Tayshia have a real connection. I’m going into tonight’s rose ceremony feeling really, really good.”
Rose ceremony was finally here. Tayshia decided to hand out the roses to Brendan, then Riley, Blake, Ivan and Noah.
Later, Zac was crying over the thought of Tayshia meeting his parents during the Hometown weeks. Saying that his parents were “everything,” Zac claimed while crying, “My mom and my dad are my heroes, so that makes it really real.”
As for the first one-on-one date, it was between Tayshia and Ben. They were seen riding scooters but then he took off his pants to get into a fountain. Later during the date, the two discussed the progress of their relationship. “You have to just… let it out,” Tayshia told Ben, who responded, “It’s me trying to be perfect. Maybe part of me doesn’t want to share things because I don’t want to burden you. But I trust you.”

At their romantic dinner, Tayshia revealed she was excited to meet Ben’s family. “I feel like you’re almost too perfect. You say the right thing… I feel like you want to display this perfect image of yourself,” she said. “I know you’re holding back… I feel like there’s hurt there.”
Then, Ben made a huge revelation of his dark past. Admitting that he attempted suicide twice in the past, he said, “2018 was a rough year for me. I left a career that I thought I was going to be in forever. The Army didn’t end up working out for me, for a number of reasons, but I ended up breaking my back pretty bad, and I’m 26 years old, and I can barely walk up the steps, and I was living in a city that was too expensive for me, and I was completely lost.”
“My life was very dark, and I didn’t know how to say that I needed things. I don’t know if you can relate with that, or how that can be. The only person I confided in was my sister, and I’m trying to give you the whole picture,” he added.
Tayshia assured him that things would be okay, saying, “And I’m still right here. I see you and I hear you, and that’s all I’ve been wanting. I’ve been wanting you to open up to me… you’re an amazing person.” She gave him a rose.
The two ended their date with a private concert. “Today’s date has just been perfect, and now we have this stunning private concert,” Tayshia shared in confessional. “The way Ben made me feel tonight is the way I want to feel with my future husband… I truly love Ben.”
The episode also saw them taking a lie detector test. Zac admitted to cheating and Riley said that it’s not his real name. When confronted, Zac told Tayshia that his marriage ended because of cheating, prompting her to say, “I will not date a cheater.” Riley and Ben also opened up to Tayshia and she decided to give the rose out at the rose ceremony.
Bennett, who was previously eliminated, shockingly waited for Tayshia in her suite. “Our goodbye was so bizarre, so surreal, I couldn’t even fathom what just happened. I was thinking about all these things that I wasn’t able to share with you, sometimes you don’t realize things until they’re gone. And I realized in that moment that I love you,” Bennett said. He told Tayshia that he was in love with her and she was confused.
