Kate Mara Cautions 'A Teacher' Would Not Be a Super-Easy Watch

    FX

When speaking about the new series about a high-school teacher having an affair with her student, the Claire Wilson depicter explains why it is important to explore the difficult subject matter.

    Nov 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kate Mara hopes her new show “A Teacher” makes viewers “uncomfortable.”
The new FX on Hulu series sees the 37-year-old actress play Claire Wilson, a married English teacher who grooms and manipulates one of her high school students.
“Love, Simon” actor Nick Robinson, 25, stars opposite Mara as the teen victim, Eric Walker, and she tells The Wrap the programme was designed to explore the difficult subject matter from a new angle.
“Some people are definitely going to feel uncomfortable watching the show. It wasn’t something that we made thinking that it would be a super-easy watch,” she says. “Comfortable is not the word we were going for.”

“I don’t think you normally see the story told from this perspective or this point of view. It was one of the reasons why I was excited to tell it,” adds Mara. “I think it’s because it isn’t something that people necessarily want to talk about. The fact that it’s a female doing the abuse and being the groomer and all of these things I think is also something that is rarely discussed.”
She goes on to insist it’s “important” the show explores the taboo narrative from the viewpoint of the teacher and student, to highlight the “silly” stereotype of it being “cool” for a boy to have that illegal relationship with a teacher.
“I think it is a unique thing to explore it, and it was something that we wanted to be very clear about from the beginning, that we were not saying that it was right, that we were always saying this was wrong,” muses the “House of Cards” actress.
“It’s not a story that we were looking to tell to make people feel cozy,” she notes of “A Teacher”, which is adapted from Hannah Fidell’s 2013 film of the same name. “It’s an important story to tell in order to begin the conversation about how common this type of sexual assault has become. So that was more of the goal.”

'Emily in Paris' Gets Renewed for Second Season Despite French Stereotype Backlash

    Netflix

News about the picking up of the Netflix series for another season has been unveiled in a fun, mock press release from the titular character’s fictional boss Sylvie Grateau.

    Nov 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Hit Netflix show “Emily in Paris” has been picked up for a sequel season, despite critics slamming the series.
The romantic comedy, which stars Lily Collins as a young American marketing executive working in the city of lights, has received negative attention for promoting U.S. stereotypes about the French.
Despite the backlash, fans have flocked to watch the show since it debuted in October, and the renewal news was unveiled in a fun, mock press release from Emily’s fictional boss, Sylvie Grateau – played by Philippine Leroy Beaulieu.
“Despite her overconfident manner and lack of prior experience in luxury goods marketing, she has nonetheless managed to charm some of our hard-to-impress clients during her short time at Savoir,” reads the note. “Call it Bonne chance, or American ingenuity – I’m leaning towards the former – her results are impressive. We love having Emily in Paris! But please don’t let her know that.”

Created by “Sex and the City” writer Darren Star, the show also stars Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Camille Razat and Kate Walsh.
Meanwhile, Star recently addressed the backlash linked to his new Netflix show, stating, “The first thing she (Emily) is seeing is the cliches, because it’s from her point of view (sic). I wanted to do a show that celebrated that part of Paris… I wanted to showcase Paris in a really wonderful way that would encourage people to fall in love with the city in a way that I have.”
Star has also revealed he already has ideas about what his new heroine will do next, telling Oprah magazine, “She’ll be more of a resident of the city (in season two). She’ll have her feet on the ground a little more.”
Collins previously told Vanity Fair she “would love nothing more than to be able to go back to Paris” to shoot a second season of the show.

Kim Kardashian and Family Call Larsa Pippen 'Toxic' Following Her Damning Tell-All Interview

    Instagram

Larsa, who used to be friend with the SKIMS founder for years, speaks out against the KarJenners during her appearance on ‘Hollywood Raw’ podcast where she also claims to be having a fling with Tristan Thompson before he was with Khloe Kardashian.

    Nov 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Larsa Pippen made headlines with her bombshell claims during an interview, in which she claimed that Kim Kardashian’s husband Kanye West “brainwashed” the famous clan to go against her. In response to the damning interview, it was said that Kim and her family felt nothing but betrayed by Larsa, who used to be the family’s best friend.
“The KarJenners are known for having each other’s backs when it comes to their tight-knit group of friends and family,” a source close to the family shared to HollywoodLife.com. “They don’t speak out about their personal lives unless it’s something that’s discussed among those involved, and like any family, they don’t publicly air dirty laundry.”
The insider went on to say, “So they feel betrayed that Larsa would not only do this interview and talk about their family behind their backs, but also say things that are hurtful and unnecessary.”

      See also…

Another source claimed to E! News, “They all think Larsa is toxic energy,” though Kim “has a soft spot for Larsa” because “they have been through a lot together.” However, the family members “think she’s trying to stay relevant and Kim doesn’t appreciate the accusations regarding Kanye. The family is very protective over one another and all feel like she violated their privacy by dishing out details to the public.”
Larsa, who used to be friend with the SKIMS founder for years, spoke out against the KarJenners during her appearance on “Hollywood Raw” podcast. “I just feel like Kanye was in a place where he really didn’t trust anyone with Kim, so I feel like I was the person that was like, ‘Oh, don’t be so close to her…,’ that kinda had something to do with it,” Larsa shared. “I don’t want to be the trouble in your relationship. If your husband feels threatened by my relationship with you, then I don’t want to be that person. I got my own s**t.”
During the interview, the ex-wife of basketball legend Scottie Pippen also claimed that she used to date Tristan Thompson before the Cleveland Cavaliers player was with Khloe Kardashian, with whom he shares a daughter together. She went on to say that she previously tried to hit on rapper Travis Scott (II), who shares a daughter with Kylie Jenner.
Fans noticed that there was a rift between Larsa and the famous family after they unfollowed each other on Instagram around July 22. It was at the same time when Kanye made headlines due to his public meltdown in which he threatened to divorce his reality TV show star wife.

In other news, Kandi Burruss addressed NeNe Leakes’ exit from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” during her apparance on Steve Harvey’s Facebook Watch show “Steve on Watch”. She admitted that NeNe’s departure from the hit Bravo reality show would make a huge change on the series.
“She will be missed on the show for sure,” Kandi shared,” adding, “I’m not trying to take anything from her. She was a great addition to the show.” However, Kandi, who had a huge argument with NeNe during season 13 reunion, claimed, “We don’t really talk.”
“I think in negotiations, sometimes we get what we want and sometimes we don’t get what we want and…when we don’t get what we want, we have to make the decision on if we want to part ways and I think [NeNe] made that decision for herself. I guess right now she didn’t care to come back this season, for whatever reason.”
NeNe announced her departure from “RHOA” in a video on her YouTube channel on Thursday, September 17. “I have been on an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation,” she shared. “There’s been a lot of emotion flying from both sides. “I’m just so happy that I can say that I was a part of a genre that opened up doors for black ensemble reality shows,” NeNe, who is among the OG Housewives of the show that premiered in 2008, continued.

The 48-year-old spilled on her experience in the Tuesday, November 10 episode of the “LadyGang” podcast. “Yeah, it was stressful. I mean, we fought a lot, like, if you know us, you know that I am super outgoing and Ryan is total opposite,” she first admitted. “He hates the cameras even though he was on the freaking reality show, that’s crazy…So because he was stressed, I was stressed.”
Trista went on to acknowledge that it was “a little awkward” to have her runner up Charlie Maher serving as the wedding host. “They came to us and they said to us, ‘Do you want us to be in your face all day long all day?’ And we were like, ‘No, of course not,’ ” she recounted. “They were like, ‘If you don’t want us around all day long, then you’re going to have to have Charlie be the commentator or the correspondent.’ ”

I think they had titles like … ‘the villain’ or ‘the sweetheart.’ ”

'DWTS' Star Nelly Supports Judge Carrie Ann Inaba Amid Bullying Claims

    WENN/Instar/Avalon

The ‘Hot in Herre’ rapper speaks in favor of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ judge after she received backlash for her harsh criticism of Kaitlyn Bristowe and her partner Artem Chigvintsev.

    Nov 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nelly has come to Carrie Ann Inaba’s defense amid bullying claims. The “Hot in Herre” rapper stood up for “Dancing with the Stars” judge after she landed in hot water because of the harsh criticism she directed at Kaitlyn Bristowe and her partner Artem Chigvintsev.
The 46-year-old expressed his support for the judge when speaking to TooFab during a night out in Los Angeles. “She’s just doing her job. Carrie Ann’s sweet. Yo, she’s so dope. Carrie Ann is an ex Fly Girl. You can never be mad at an ex Fly Girl. You know what I’m saying? Nah, they gotta leave my girl alone,” he weighed in on the controversy.
“I just want to win at the end of the day so I know it’s a competition, but it’s never nothing personal. She’s so sweet. All of the judges is dope,” the MC continued. “I mean you know it’s a competition, so you upset about what you thinking, but it’s not personal. Carrie Ann is dope. All of them is dope. You know what I mean? Nah it’s cool, she’s sweet.”

Before Nelly jumped to her defense, Carrie was accused of being too tough on “The Bachelorette” alum Kaitlyn and her dancing partner. Many speculated that her harshness came from the fact that she and Artem dated for almost three years in the past. The 52-year-old and the Russian dancer called it quits in 2009.
Carrie herself has responded to the backlash. In an interview after the Monday, November 9 episode of the dancing competition show, she told the press, “I think it’s hysterical. You know what I love though? This is what I love about ‘The Bachelor’ fans and ‘Bachelorette’ fans. They can create a story around it!”
“It’s weird because I totally understood what they were doing,” the TV personality further shared. “They’re like, there’s jealousy there and there’s this and that because that’s what the ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Bachelorette’ is all about, right? It’s about creating stories about everybody.”
Carrie then stressed that she had nothing but love for her ex-boyfriend post-split. “Look, I love Artem, I respect him, I love him and Nikki Bella together. I love that they just had their little baby Matteo. We’ve had Nikki on ‘The Talk’, I’m a huge fan. There’s nothing but love and I thought it was hysterical. So none of it bothers me,” she stressed.
Emphasizing that she is against “bullying,” the dancer and choreographer further warned, “I will not stand for bullying of me or anyone. I will not. We’ve had enough of it in our country. I’m sick of it. I’m never gonna stand for that, I’m never gonna support it. But I am OK with passion and I am OK with discussion.”

'The Voice' Recap: Battle Rounds Continue as One Singer Is Sent to Knockout

    NBC

Kicking off the new episode are Desz and Joseph Soul from Team Kelly Clarkson who show off their skills while singing Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes’ ‘If You Don’t Know Me by Now’.

    Nov 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – The second night of Battles Round aired on Tuesday, November 10. Kicking off the night were Desz and Joseph Soul from Team Kelly Clarkson who showed off their skills while singing Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes’ “If You Don’t Know Me by Now”. They were both great soulful singers so it was a hard decision for Kelly to let go one of them.
Eventually, Kelly picked Desz as Joseph got pitchy in some places probably because he was nervous. However, his journey didn’t stop there as coach Gwen Stefani decided to steal him for her own team.

The next battle was from Team Blake Shelton. Jim Ranger and John Sullivan hit the stage to belt out Kane Brown’s “Good as You”. Blake said, “First of all, gats off to both of you guys. They rehearsed this song and performed it in front of Kane Brown,” before saying to fellow coach John Legend, “who has you to thank for launching that hit song off your popular podcast or whatever it is, ‘Trailer Talk’.” He praised John for being a good story-teller, while calling Jim a naturally talented and “big vocalist.” Jim won the battle and no one stole John.

John Holiday and Julia Cooper from Team John then performed a duet of Stevie Wonder’s “Summer Soft”. John was impressed by Julia’s “cool” tone, her vibrato and her special approach to the song. As for John Holiday, John said, “Everybody’s struggling to find someone to compare you to, but there’s just no one that they can compare you to. The world needed to hear your voice.” John Holiday was declared as the winner as John sent Julia to the four-way Knockout.

Later, viewers were offered montage of two other battles. Skylar Alyvia Mayton and Tanner Gomes from Team Kelly sang “Whiskey Lullaby” before Kelly chose to send Tanner to the next round. Meanwhile, Chloe Hogan from Team Gwen won over Lain Roy after they took the stage to sing “Adore You”.
