'DWTS' Recap: Two Perfect Scores Are Earned, Celebrity Dancers Honor Music Legends on 'Icons Night'

    ABC

The new outing of the ABC dancing competition show sees the remaining celebrity contestants celebrating some music legends, including Madonna, Britney Spears and Tupac Shakur, on ‘Icons Night’.

    Nov 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – A new episode of “Dancing with the Stars” is here! Airing on Monday, November 9, the new outing saw the remaining celebrity contestants celebrating some music legends on “Icons Night”. The first performers that night were Justina Machado and Sasha Farber, who honored Madonna.
The pair hit the stage to dance the Rumba to “Crazy for You”. Derek Hough called the performance a “beautiful rumba,” praising the pair over the great turns and oozy slow moments. Bruno Tonioli said they nailed “the gentle side of Madonna,” though he thought that Justina held back too much. The judges gave her 24 points.

Nelly and Daniella Karagach, meanwhile, danced the Jazz to “California Love” by Tupac Shakur ft. Roger Troutman & Dr. Dre. Bruno loved the routine, saying that it made him smile. However, he noted that Nelly “missed a couple of steps.” Despite a few missteps, Carrie Ann Inaba said that Nelly did a “great job” and it was such a “fun” performance. The pair earned a 24.

Next performers were AJ McLean and Cheryl Burke. They danced the Viennese Waltz to “Somebody to Love” by Queen. It was not AJ’s best performance, though Derek told him that he had a “beautiful” frame despite his mistakes. Bruno, meanwhile, advised AJ to soften his arms. He got 23 points.

Following it up were Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev. They opted to honor Britney Spears as they danced the Argentine Tango to Britney’s “Toxic”. It was such an incredible routine that Derek and Carrie gave her a standing ovation. The judges gave the pair a perfect score!

Later, Johnny Weir and Britt Stewart took to the stage to dance the Quickstep to Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie”. Upon watching the performance, Bruno said, “Amy would have loved that.” Carrie Ann added, “We’ve never seen a quickstep like that … You pulled it off beautifully.” Derek also loved how “clean” his technique and footwork. The pair also got a perfect score.
Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten then danced the Paso Doble to Janet Jackson’s “If”. Carrie Ann said she was “proud” of her fierce performance. Derek also said that it was “powerful” and “confident,” though she had to watch her arms. She got 27 points.
The episode also saw Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson dancing the Jive to Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)”. Derek loved how much “content” and “charisma” that Nev showed in his performance, though he thought that it needed more “pump.” Carrie Ann said the routine was “pleasure to watch,” but he needed to work on his toes. The judges gave him a 27.
Later for the Dance-Off, Justina and Kaitlyn danced the Cha Cha, and the one who got the bonus points was Justina. Following it up were Skai and Nelly who danced the Salsa for their Dance-Off. Skai got the bonus points. Later, AJ got the bonus points after he won over Johnny in the Jive Dance-Off.
It was then announced that Kaitlyn, Skai, Nev, Justina and Nelly were safe. Meanwhile, Johnny and AJ were in bottom two. Bruno saved Johnny, Derek chose to save AJ. Carrie Ann then picked Johnny. That meant AJ was eliminated!

Carly Hughes Blames 'Toxic Environment' for Departure From 'American Housewife'

    WENN/Avalon

Showrunners Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz have reportedly been ordered to undergo sensitivity training as a result of the internal probe conducted by ABC following the actress’ complaints.

    Nov 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Carly Hughes has quit U.S. sitcom “American Housewife” after accusing show officials of creating a “toxic environment.”
Hughes had portrayed Angela for four seasons, and appeared in the season five premiere, which was filmed before the coronavirus shutdown and aired on 28 October.
However, she was absent from the most recent episode of the TV comedy, and now it’s been revealed she has departed the show for good.
In a statement issued to Deadline, Hughes explained, “I was no longer able to work in the toxic environment that was created on American Housewife. I made the decision to leave to protect myself from that type of discrimination.”
“As a black woman in entertainment, I feel the responsibility to stand up for what I deserve, what we all deserve – to be treated equally. I wish the show well, and I am excited for a new chapter and to be able to pursue the opportunities ahead.”

She stopped short of detailing the exact nature of her complaints, but officials at ABC Signature launched an “extensive” investigation into Hughes’ grievances, which reportedly prompted creator Sarah Dunn and producer Mark J. Greenberg to step down from the production team.
Showrunners Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz were also ordered to undergo sensitivity training as a result of the internal probe.
Responding to the news of Hughes’ exit, a show representative told Deadline, “Carly was a valued member of the cast, and we had hoped she would return to the show this season.”
“The concerns she raised led to positive changes to the workplace and improvements to the culture, but we respect the decision she made to move on. We wish her nothing but the best.”
“American Housewife” stars Katy Mixon as a confident mother raising her flawed family amidst seemingly perfect parents and kids in a wealthy Connecticut town.

Ewan McGregor Snaps at Paparazzi on Set of His New Show

    WENN

The ‘Trainspotting’ actor is caught on camera losing his cool with a shutterbug who took pictures while the star was filming his new Netflix miniseries ‘Halston’ in New York.

    Nov 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ewan McGregor launched a foul-mouthed rant at a paparazzi close by the set of his new Netflix show.
The Scottish star, 49, was on the set of new miniseries “Halston” in New York’s Central Park when he flew into a rage at paparazzi photographer Steve Sands who was taking snaps.
In a clip filmed last Thursday (05Nov20), the star, who plays late fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick, storms towards the snapper and shouts, “Stop talking to me… I’m walking behind this f**king flag!”
It is not known exactly what the “Doctor Sleep” star was referring to, but sources tell The Sun there was a piece of material being held up by the crew.

“It was pretty shocking,” they told the publication, adding, “You could clearly hear him yelling f**k in his Scottish accent.”
An insider also claimed the photographer was being a nuisance and the star was trying to protect the crew, but Sands, 64, shared, “I got into a tit for tat on the set. Then Ewan yells at me. That was the end. I don’t hold anything against him.”
The miniseries will chronicle the rise and fall of Roy Halston Frowick who helped define the 1970s and 1980s fashion scene. The research was done through speaking to the late designer’s old friends and former assistants.
The project was written by Sharr White (“The Affair”), directed by Daniel Minahan (“American Crime Story”), and produced by Ryan Murphy. “After 20 long years of twists and turns, the limited series Halston starring Ewan McGregor began production today,” Murphy said earlier this year when they kicked off the filming.

Candace Cameron Bure Gets Real About Why She Turned Down Offer for Family Reality Show

    WENN/FayesVision

When explaining her reason for saying no to the show pitch, the ‘Fuller House’ star confesses that she has never even been approached for the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise.

    Nov 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Fuller House” star Candace Cameron Bure and her family were pitched their own reality TV show.
The 44-year-old actress tells Us Weekly she was approached about a series but turned down the offer because she thinks her relatives aren’t “interesting enough” to attract an audience.
“I think we’re pretty boring,” she says, adding, “It just wasn’t something that works for us.”

      See also…

Candace, however, admitted that they did get an offer in the past, though it didn’t work. “We were approached for reality [TV], but a long time ago and it just wasn’t something that works for us,” she shared.
She went on nixing the idea of joining the “Real Housewives” franchise, one of today’s most popular reality series franchises airing on Bravo. She said, “I’ve never been approached for Housewives (TV franchise ‘Real Housewives’) …, nor have I ever seen a Housewives show. (I) don’t think that one’s for me.”
Candace and her husband Valeri Bure share three children – Natasha, 22, Lev, 20, and Maksim, 18 – and have been married for 24 years. The family has been spending time together at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“It totally tested us, but in the best of ways,” the “Dancing Through Life” author confessed, but added that the situation eventually made them closer. “I’ll be honest because we try. We both travel so much. So we were like, ‘This might be the most amount of time we’ve actually spent together in years. This is either going to make us or break us.’ And you know what? It’s made us.”

'RHOP': Ashley Darby Gets Emotional as She Misses Son During Cast Trip to Portugal

    Instagram

During the trip to Madeira, the new mom is joined by fellow cast members Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, Dr. Wendy Osefo, Karen Huger and Candiace Dillard, while Monique Samuels isn’t invited.

    Nov 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – New mom Ashley Darby couldn’t stay being apart from her son Dean and husband Michael Darby for too long. In the Sunday, November 8 episode of “The Real Housewives of Potomac”, she could be seen getting emotional during a cast trip to Portugal. She claimed that she felt anxious leaving Dean behind for the first time.
She asked her close friend Eve to help take care of Dean during the day so that Michael could put their son to bed after he came home from work. However, Dean wasn’t the only reason she was nervous. Prior to this, Michael admitted to visiting a strip club and doing something he “regrets” when Ashley left him alone with their baby.
“Dean and I are going to spend a lot of time together,” Michael said in the new episode. Ashley then asked, “Are you going to behave while I’m gone?” to which Michael responded, “Absolutely.”
“One of the things you mentioned was that sometimes you just need to talk and get it out before you make a decision that you don’t want to make, so you can call me,” she told Michael.
During the trip to Madeira, Ashley was joined by fellow cast members Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, Dr. Wendy Osefo, Karen Huger and Candiace Dillard. Ashley didn’t invite Monique Samuels following her brutal physical altercation with Candiace back in November 2019. They had dinner after they arrived and the drama started immediately with Wendy and Karen’s beef.

Later in the episode, Gizelle asked Ashley about her relationship with her husband. “I’m finally starting to feel better. I’m officially 100 percent back in my marriage,” Ashley told the ladies. Gizelle then replied, “One hundred percent? That was like, in a month you went from 60, 40 to 100.”
“There were a lot of things we hadn’t talked about,” Ashley admitted, though she claimed that she wasn’t bothered if something happened when she was away. “I’m more understanding about the circumstances,” Ashley said, adding, “I wasn’t being the supportive wife that I had been.”
Robyn then chimed in, “I want you to stop taking responsibility and putting the weight on you being a new mother, and trying to navigate that. He needs to support you because this is something new that you’re going through.” The 41-year-old, who has history when it comes to dealing with infidelity, urged Ashley to hold her husband “accountable” for his actions.
“I didn’t have the energy to care about what my husband was doing, and I’m getting that from Ashley. But she’s got to hold him accountable,” she explained in a confessional.
Ashley then called Eve, who told her that Michael hadn’t come home yet. When she called him, Michael told Ashley that he was in a meeting. She told him that she needed to at least tell Eve if he was going to be a little bit late.
It didn’t sit well with Michael who responded, “I can’t do this. I’ll call you when I get home. … I can’t be molested like this. This is crazy.” That prompted Ashley to cry on her bed. “I just want to go home. I miss my kid,” she said. Despite the rough night, the couple was able to resolve the issue.

Alec Baldwin 'Overjoyed' to Stop Playing Donald Trump

    NBC/Will Heath

The 62-year-old ‘The Boss Baby: Family Business’ star also shares a black-and-white picture of him as the defeated presidential candidate who brings a paper sign with ‘You’re Welcome!!!’ written on it.

    Nov 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Most people were rejoicing when Joe Biden was declared as the new president of the United States, dethroning Donald Trump. Alec Baldwin was among those people, but he had another reason why he was “overjoyed” following the announcement of the results of November 3 presidential election.
On Saturday, November 7, the “The Boss Baby: Family Business” actor tweeted, “I don’t believe I’ve ever been this overjoyed to lose a job before!” Alec was referring to his role as POTUS on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”. With Donald’s defeat, he doesn’t have to impersonate the businessman-turned-to-president, whom Alec openly dislikes, again.

Alec Baldwin was ‘overjoyed’ to stop playing Donald Trump on ‘SNL’.
In another tweet, the 62-year-old star shared a black-and-white picture of him as Donald, who brought a paper sign with “You’re Welcome!!!” written on it. “It’s been fun,” Alec simply captioned the snap.

The actor shaded Donald on Twitter.
He went on shading Donald in a follow-up tweet. “It will be comforting when we have a President who doesn’t Tweet twice as much as I do … They’re gonna need an enormous shipment of tissues sent to Mar-a-Lago … On to my next wish. That everyone who voted in this election maintains that commitment and votes in the 2022 midterm elections. Let’s keep this going!!!” he said.
The election outcome was called by major media outlets on Saturday, just hours before a new episode of “SNL” featuring Alec’s Donald aired. “As anyone who died halfway through Tuesday knows, I was re-elected president of the United States,” he said.
Meanwhile, “SNL” cast member Gary Kroeger talked about Alec’s long-running performance in the episode, which was hosted by Dave Chappelle. “I won’t miss Baldwin’s Trump at all,” Gary said. “That doesn’t mean I didn’t like it, I did, and still do, but there hasn’t been a new twist on his characterization in a couple of years. How could there be? It was done to death.”
Alec snagged a Primetime Emmy award in 2017 for the role.

‘Fargo’ Season 4, Episode 8 Recap: Best Laid Plans

Season 4, Episode 8: ‘The Nadir’It’s probably unfair to chide “Fargo” for ripping off a major set-piece from Brian De Palma’s “The Untouchables” since De Palma himself has been knocked for ripping off Alfred Hitchcock. And the set-piece in question, a shootout at Chicago’s Union Station, nods to the famed Odessa Steps sequence in Sergei Eisenstein’s “Battleship Potemkin.” Nevertheless, the quotes around quotes around quotes somewhat diminish the impact of a show that can seem, at times, like a shallow pastiche without the undergirding of original ideas or thematic purposefulness. Its pleasures are mostly on the surface. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. For the most part, this episode was an entertaining jumble of loose ends and Plan Bs, full of characters who are scrambling to figure out how to act when their schemes have been blown up. With various subplots zipping every which way, there’s not any single unifying idea that binds the hour together, but at this point in the season, there’s just too much narrative business that needs to be resolved. For Loy Cannon, Plan A in his shocking decision to release Gaetano from custody was for Gaetano to attack his brother, which would have staved off a gangland war by allowing the Faddas to get eaten alive by their own dysfunction. It was a good plan because the tension between Gaetano and Josto has been genuinely destructive to the family — as I wrote last week, Josto is more a Fredo Corleone than a Michael, and Gaetano is more like Sonny, hot-tempered and impulsive. Their leadership issues seem to be the biggest obstacle to putting down the Cannons, who don’t have the manpower or the institutional connections to beat them directly. But Gaetano figures it out. Loy expected him to be so consumed with anger over Josto that he wouldn’t ask questions about why he was liberated. But the big lug thought it through and came to right conclusion. (Not that he didn’t get his licks in on Josto, mind.) So now the brothers are a united front — “I’m the lion, you’re the snake,” says Gaetano — and they can finally turn their attention to the Cannons rather than to a power struggle that has cleaved the family in half. There’s a little bit of nuance to their new arrangement, however: Gaetano acknowledges that Josto is the brains the operation, but he makes it clear, in their reunion, that he has the support of the rank-and-file. Only the consigliere, Ebal Violante, seems to side-eye the new arrangement.Loy has planned for this contingency, of course. When he hears of the Fadda brothers’ reconciliation, he has one word: “Fargo.” This is the payoff to the massive gun shipment he shuffled off to Mort Kellerman, the North Dakota mobster whom viewers of the second season will remember as a rival to the Gerhardt syndicate. (It does not go well for him.) And so, the FTU (Fargo Televisual Universe) has its Avengers moment in the final sequence as Kellerman’s gang descends on the Fadda manse. This is war, but it’s still not one that Loy cares to fight directly.Oraetta Mayflower has seemed like a good planner, too, but she doesn’t seem to have considered that Dr. Harvard might survive her poisoned macaroon, despite having collapsed inside an elite hospital. Upon hearing the news of his expected recovery, her only option is to find his room and finish the job, but she’s thwarted in that effort and makes herself conspicuous by asking around about him. Surely her relationship with one of the city’s mob bosses will come into play at this time of need, but she keeps Josto at arm’s length. She’ll happily play dominatrix in bed, but she has never been angrier this season than when Josto confesses to loving her.For the past few episodes, poor Odis had been batted around between the Faddas and the Cannons, all to the bemusement and consternation of Deafy, who knew for a long time that his liaison on the force was deeply compromised. Credit Odis, then, for having a plan of his own. Brought down to his lowest point, he makes a creditable plea for redemption from Deafy, and the good Mormon is convinced enough to bring him along on an operation to capture Zelmare and Swanee at Union Station. His hesitancy to leave the car is a clever piece of misdirection on the show’s part: We think he’s seized by fear and O.C.D. tendencies, but really he’s waiting for the dust to settle enough for him to gun down Deafy. The chaos that ensues from the Union Station operation — with Deafy and Swanee dead and Zelmare still on the loose — adds an encouraging volatility to the final batch of episodes this season. No one is in a comfortable spot here: Oraetta has to worry that Dr. Harvard will pursue attempted murder charges; Loy has to worry that the Faddas are finally uniting against him; the Faddas have to worry about Milligan; and everybody has to worry about Zelmare, who will surely be coming back to town, eager to settle some scores. Sounds like one or two more De Palma set pieces waiting to happen.3 Cent Stamps:No Coen references this week that I could see, other than acknowledging that Fargo exists. This season would simply be “Kansas City” otherwise.Josto’s involvement in local politics has been such an under-the-radar subplot that when he mentions to Oraetta that he’s getting married, the news is dropped so matter-of-factly that it’s as if he (and we) had nearly forgotten about it entirely.R.I.P. Deafy Wickware. It was nice to see Timothy Olyphant reprise his signature role as Raylan Givens in “Justified,” even if the Mormon makeover did him no favors. More
