Brad Pitt chokes up in emotional speech as he wins first acting Oscar

Brad Pitt bagged his first-ever Academy Award for acting as he picked up the best supporting actor award at the Oscars 2020.

The film star, who looked dapped in a tux at the glitzy bash, celebrated a milestone in his career by winning the accolade for his Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Visibly emotional, Jennifer Anniston’s ex heaped praise onto his lifelong friend and co-star Leonardo DiCaprio and his brood.

He said: “This is incredible, really incredible.

“This really is about Quentin Tarantino; you are original, you are one of a kind. The film industry would be a much drier place without you.

“Leo, I’ll ride on your coat tails any day, man. The view is fantastic.”

Wrapping up his speech, he added: “This is for my kids, who colour everything I do.

“I adore you.”

Brad shares six children with ex-wife Angelina Jolie: Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and Vivienne and Knox, 11.

The pair married in 2014, but called time on their relationship five-year later. They agreed to custody sharing of their brood, and finalised their divorce in April 2019.

During his speech, Brad couldn’t help but comment on the political landscape and slammed the recent impeachment trial of President Trump.

He joking quipped that he was told he’d only be given 45 seconds and that it was “45 seconds more than the senate gave John Bolton”.

“If Quentin does a movie about it, in the end, the adults do the right thing,” he said.
