Constance Wu 'gives birth to first child after secret pregnancy' over the summer

Actress Constance Wu is reportedly a new mum after welcoming her first tot earlier this year.

The Hustlers star is believed to have welcomed her firstborn, a daughter, over the summer months with her boyfriend Ryan Kattner.

Constance, 38, has not addressed the pregnancy claims nor the birth of her youngster – she has not been seen in public since February, just one month before the world went into lockdown.

Speaking to E! News, a source close to the Virginia-born actress said: “They are doing great, and they’re so excited and happy.”

The actress made her last public appearances in February at the Queerties 2020 Awards Reception, as well as on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

She has since removed herself from social media, branding her Instagram and Twitter accounts “defunct”, having not updated them since May 2020 and December 2019.

Her latest film, I Was a Simple Man, is believed to premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 2021 but it is unclear whether Constance will be attending the event.

Last year, the actress spoke candidly about spending less time using social media, telling the Los Angeles Times : “I do think when you have a platform, you ought to make sure you use it as well and responsibly as you can.

“But I want to be careful not to blow up my profile any more.”

Meanwhile, her Crazy Rich Asians co-star Henry Golding has revealed that the sequel to the 2018 hit film is currently delayed.

Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “[They’re] trying to crack the script right now, they’ve got the two books that Kevin Kwan wrote still to come and they’re trying to find an angle to convert those from page to script to film.

“It’s a very complicated process because, visually, sometimes a novel doesn’t make as much sense as it would on the screen in a direct adaptation. So you have to really change it up to make it interesting.

“The other issue is that we’ve got the first one to compete with, everybody has a very high expectation. It’s not going to be as easy as the first one. It’s still a work in progress, for sure.”
