Eamonn Holmes has liked a supportive message from a follower which referred to the “cruel” television business, after he and Ruth Langsford were cut from their Friday slot on This Morning.
The television presenter duo have been dropped from the Friday slot, instead being replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
And since the news was confirmed by ITV on Monday, fans of Eamonn and Ruth have been flooding them with uplifting messages.
Journalist Kinsey Schofield tweeted Eamonn saying: “I really enjoy you and your wife. This business can be so cruel. I will continue to support you and whatever you decide to do next. Congratulations on so many brilliant years executing the job wonderfully.”

Eamonn, 60, responded: “Very kind of you to say Lady K. Appreciate it.”
It was confirmed on Monday that Eamonn and Ruth will no longer host Friday’s This Morning after fronting it for 14 years.
They will now just host during holidays, as they had done when Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield went on their breaks.
The new-look This Morning line-up starts next year, with Alison and Dermot making their first appearance in their permanent Friday slot on January 8.
Eamonn and Ruth took to Twitter to share the news themselves after weeks of rumours about them being replaced.
Sharing the same message on each of their accounts, they wrote: “It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January.
“We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a ball you two!

“It’s not goodbye from us, it’s simply au revoir until the next half term.”
Speaking of her new gig, Alison, 45, said: “I never dreamt that when I first joined This Morning – initially for a few months – that I would still be there 19 years later.
“I genuinely care about the show and the viewers who watch, so it’s a huge privilege and honour to be hosting a show I adore so much.
“I’m just really excited to be doing even more of what I love alongside the lovely Dermot.”
While X Factor host Dermot, 47, adding: “I’m deeply thrilled and honoured to be joining the This Morning team next year.
“We have huge shoes to fill and we are well aware what a privilege it is to be stepping into them.
“Above all, we want to have fun and for you to be able to kick your weekend off with a smile, especially given the year we’ve all had.
“I’m delighted to be co-hosting with the living embodiment of sunshine on a rainy day. I can’t wait to get started.”
