However, detectives had their eyes on Phil Mitchell and placed him under arrest in the Queen Vic until Sharon lied and said he was babysitting.

She was standing around the corner at the time and after overhearing him being placed under arrest, she rushed around the corner to defend him.

Ian Beale, who recently confessed he is in love with Sharon, later questioned Sharon on her decision to help the criminal and asked if she was still in love with him.

Sharon said she did it so he would make the divorce easier and because she still “cares”.

In tonight’s episode Kat also discovered that despite Kush promising to give up gambling – he didn’t.

After the burglary, while sitting at the kitchen table, Stacey Slater told Kat that Kush had still been gambling online.

Kat immediately freaked out and cursed Kush so Stacey stepped in to remind her that it is an addiction and that he can not control it.

Stacey told Kat that he is a “good man” who needs help.

EastEnders continues at 7.35pm on Thursday on BBC One.
