I'm A Celebrity's Giovanna Fletcher saved Mario Falcone's life after suicide bid

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! star Giovanna Fletcher ‘s younger brother Mario Falcone has spoken out about his heroine sister who saved his life when he was at his lowest point.

The former TOWIE star had previously hit rock bottom after his romance with his co-star Lucy Mecklenburgh broke down.

At the time the now 32-year-old reality star faced a lot of public backlash as the split turned messy which lead to Mario attempting to take his own life.

It was his older sister who swooped in and took charge when he most needed support and ultimately turned his life around.

Feeling grateful for having Giovanna at his side throughout, the reality star said: “I owe her everything.”

Opening up, he told the Sunday People: “People might not know this but Giovanna quite literally saved my life when I was at my lowest ebb.

“I was having a really difficult time eight years ago going through a very public break-up.

“I was getting a lot of hate on social media and felt really backed into a corner – like this was the only way out.”

After trying to take his own life, Mario knew that he was unwell and needed support to pick himself up again and so he leaned on his sister for help.

Mario explained: “Giovanna was amazing – unbelievable. It was clear she was very shocked and upset.

“But in a crisis, she goes into super organised mode. She knew exactly what I needed to do and where I needed to go.

“She fixed up four days of counselling with a Harley Street doctor in London at the start and ten further appointments over the weeks.”

The father of one continued: “That really turned things around for me. She encouraged me to talk to people and not keep things bottled up.

“That saved my life, without any doubt.”

Earlier this week, Giovanna landed the bombshell that she had once participated in a TOWIE scene alongside her brother after producers had begged her to take part.

Reluctantly she agreed, later to find she had been axed because she wasn’t quite Essex enough for the show.

Speaking to her campmates, she said: “They talked me into being part of the scene. They really had to talk me into it.

“It was a massive thing for me to say I’ll do it. And then I got cut. I was more upset about being cut. I am not TOWIE enough!”

Giovanna’s fellow campmate Shane Richie went on to reveal that he had previously been snubbed by Mr Tumble.

The pair went on to joke about being cut from television shows.
