Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway has revealed that husband Derek Draper has had a “tough old week” as he remains in hospital.
The 53-year-old presenter was back on the ITV breakfast show on Friday alongside co-star and close friend Ben Shephard.
Kate’s beloved family car was stolen recently and pal Ben addressed the heartbreaking ordeal during the latest edition of GMB.
Kate said she’s been “blown away” by the amount of support she’s received from viewers, but hasn’t had time to reply to everyone after Derek’s “tough old week”.
“They’ve been unbelievably nice, and it’s been a bit of a tough old week for Derek so I haven’t got back to anybody,” she explained.

“But it’s so lovely – some viewers are offering to lend me their cars.
“I am constantly blown away by how lovely you’ve all been through this.”
Ben, 45, added: “Kate’s beloved Vicky Volvo was stolen. We’re furious and frustrated and angry about it.”

However, the cheeky Tipping Point host joked that it was a “nice gesture” from viewers but “don’t do it” as pal Kate is not the best driver.
Mother-of-two Kate welcomed a breakthrough moment in October after husband Derek, 53, spoke his first words since falling gravely ill with Covid-19 as the pandemic swept across Britain.
However the ITV star is said to be in a state of uncertainty over whether or not he will be discharged from hospital after spending 214 days in intensive care with the potentially life-threatening virus.
Last month, Kate revealed Derek mouthed the word “pain” – his first word since falling ill – when asked by nurses if he was in any discomfort.
While Kate said it was “heartbreaking'” he was suffering, it marked progress in his recovery since being struck down with coronavirus in March.
Kate and Derek are parents to two children Darcy, 14 and 11-year-old Billy.
