It was confirmed via a spokesperson for the family that Caroline had taken her own life, with a family statement reading: “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.

“We would ask that the press respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time and we would ask they make no attempt to contact us and/or photograph us.”

Lewis and Caroline had been ordered by a magistrate from having any contact with one another following an assault charge.
