Lorraine Kelly praises Angela Griffin's 'boobies' as she squeezes into corset

Lorraine Kelly was full of praise for Angela Griffin on Friday’s episode of her ITV show, paying particular attention to the former Coronation Street star’s chest.

Angela has joined Harlots for its third season as character Elizabeth Harvey, which sees her get to grips with some historical costumes, including flamboyant dresses and skintight corsets.

Showing a photo of Angela in her Harlots garb, Lorraine said: “She is something else this one, isn’t she? Loving the wig – and congratulations on the stupendous, stupendous boobies. Your eye is drawn!”

Angela laughed: “The corsets, they take a little while to get into, but they’re definitely worth it once you get in there.”

Angela said of her role: “It really was a proper dream come true, I was so desperate to be in a period drama and I never thought it would actually happen.

“Whenever I see period dramas there’s not necessarily people who look like me on it, but Harlots is so diverse, full of women – written by women, produced by women.

“It’s such an incredible period drama and I was so proud to get to play Elizabeth Harvey.”

Harlots launched on ITV Encore in the UK in 2017 but it moved to StarzPlay for its second season, which premiered in 2019.

It was announced in June 2020 that the show had been cancelled by its US home Hulu, with the BBC getting the rights to all three seasons after that.

The show follows a character called Margaret Wells who runs a brothel in London in the 18th century.

Wells moves her brothel to Greek Street in Soho to serve a wealthier group of men.

But the move puts her in direct competition with another madame, Lydia Quigley, who she had previously worked for.

Speaking of her own character, Angela explained: “She appears from nowhere and is a bit of an enigma, she’s quite flamboyant and basically arrives in London and opens up her own house.”

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
