Eddie Hassell has died aged 30 according to reports.
The NBC star is believed to have been shot during a carjacking in Texas.
Reports by US media outlet TMZ suggest that the actor died early on Sunday morning in his home state.
The actor was most known for playing the role of Phil Nance in the hit series Surface from 2005 – 2006.
He later went on to play Eddie Suarez in ABC’s Devious Minds between 2013 – 2016.
As well as pursuing an acting career, Eddie was an avid skater as well as a surfer.
Eddie was nominated for multiple awards throughout his career, most notably for Best Acting Ensemble for his role in The Kids Are All Right at the 2010 Washington Area Film Critics Association Awards.

He published his debut book, Someone Should Tell You: Startling Revelations and Truths to Help You Understand and Improve Your Life, in 2009.
Eddie last took to social media on October 9, 2020 – sharing a snap outside a medieval castle taken during a recent trip.
The star who described himself as “Part-time actor, full-time Hooligan,” often treated his fans to snaps of him riding huge waves or from his travels.

Since the news of his death, fans have flocked to social media to pay tribute to the star.
Sharing a gif, one fan penned: “#RIPEddieHassell”.
“So sad, prayers for his family,” added a second.
While a third posted: “Tragic, so young… RIP.”
“Eddie was a great guy and it’s devastating to hear that he has passed away. Keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.” said a fourth.
A representative for 2017 film Bomb City, which Eddie starred in said: “We are devastated to learn that one of our lead actors and family members was taken from us this morning way too soon.
“Please keep us and Eddie’s family in your prayers.”
