Tom Hanks has joked his bald head is “horrible” and scares children after he was forced to take a razor to his locks for his latest film role.
The 64-year-old Oscar-winning star is set to portray music manager Colonel Tom Parker in an upcoming biopic about Elvis Presley.
The movie, titled Elvis, is being filmed in Australia and directed by BAFTA-winning director Baz Luhrmann and is set to be released in November next year.
Tom was a guest on the Graham Norton Show where he appeared via video link – and alarmed fans with his startling new look.

He explained: “I am working on Baz Lurhmann’s movie about Elvis Presley – Austin Butler is playing Elvis Presley.
“And here, let me show you the horrible haircut I have to have in order to portray Colonel Tom Parker.”
Tom then dramatically whipped off his hat to reveal his “horrible” bald head.
He gasped: ”Check out this horrible … Can you see that? Look at that thing!”

He added: ”I just scared the children. I want to apologize for showing that.”
Tom went on to joke: “What I really want to do is just have a little tuft of hair right here and then a big, big beard, and then everybody would think I’m Graham Norton.”
Graham game fully approved Tom to play him in a future film.

Tom joked he would now be typecast, quipping: “Evidently, that’s my gig now, so I only play real people in show business.”
Elvis began filming in January this year – but production was halted in March when Tom and his wife, Rita Wilson, tested positive for Coronavirus.
Filming resumed in September – while the film is also due to feature performances from Netflix’s The Society, Olivia DeJonge, Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery and Twilight actor Xavier Samuel.
