A “rude” couple house-hunting on Channel 4’s A Place In The Sun left a bad impression with viewers on last night’s show.
Presenter Laura Hamilton was given a stern lecture by couple Sarah and Simon from Gloucester – who wanted a dream retirement home with a swimming pool in the Canary Islands resort Fuerteventura for just £200,000.
When Laura suggested the budget wasn’t realistic for bustling Corralejo, the town of their choice, she got an icy reception.
She said: “The things you’re mentioning, a pool, a view, two bedrooms… these things come at a price.
“Is there any wiggle room at all?”
“No,” said Simon bluntly.

Laura added: “Just to let you know, a couple of months ago, a frontline two-bedroom apartment with spectacular views sold for over £300,000.
“I’ll show you the best options but I do need you to be realistic.”
Simon hit back: “What we’re talking about is our ideal property and we recognise we would have to have compromises.
“Then we’ll have to decide which ones we want and which we don’t.”

Sarah piped-in: “Laura, if it was easy, we would have found it ourselves.
“We wouldn’t have needed your help.”
Despite the difficulties, Laura did find eventually find the fussy couple something they liked and picked out a property with sea views for £241,228.
As she said, they had to go over-budget for what they were looking for.
Viewers were left riled-up by the couple’s behaviour and aired their frustrations on Twitter.
One wrote: “Shocker! Two idiots trying to get an over-budget property for less than their budget!! #aplaceinthesun.”
“This man on #aplaceinthesun is super rude… ‘it’s YOUR challenge to find a house for our impossible criteria on our tiny budget,'” another blasted.
A third wrote: “I’ve got an idea. Why don’t you up the budget you pair of nobbers?”
Someone else said: “That couple were dreadful he was so rude.”
Earlier today, Laura Hamilton revealed that she had suffered a family bereavement during filming.
