Alesha Dixon denies claims she'll quit BGT over Diversity drama

Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon has denied reports she’ll quit the show if ITV apologises for Diversity’s controversial Black Lives Matter routine.

The routine, which referenced George Floyd’s death and saw a cop ‘kneel’ on Ashley Banjo’s neck, attracted 15,000 Ofcom complaints after it aired last weekend.

However, many have spoken out to praise the powerful routine too, which also referenced rioting and BLM protests.

This includes Alesha, 41, who came out in defence of Ashley and his dance group this week, telling haters to “kiss my black a**”.

It was claimed today (September 13) that Alesha is ‘furious’ at the suggestion ITV apologise over the routine and would consider quitting over it.

However, an insider has told Daily Star Online the claims are “complete rubbish”.

They told us: “There is absolutely no truth in this story. Complete rubbish.”

It comes after a source told the Daily Mail: “Alesha is absolutely furious and doesn’t think anyone should be apologising for anything.

“Ashley is in a complete state over all of this and it has knocked his confidence. Alesha has spent the week supporting him and building him back up.”

The insider continued telling the publication: “She is very sad about it all but staunchly stands by the dance.

“It is something she feels incredibly passionate about so if ITV were to say sorry, it would be understandably hard for her to continue.”

Last night Ashley defiantly strode onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage to Elton John’s I’m Still Standing.

Ashley was seen entering the show’s stage to the tune of Sir Elton John’s classic song I’m Still Standing on this weekend’s show.

Some seem to feel his appearance on stage this weekend is a message of defiance amid Ofcom backlash.

However, it seems to be a coincidence as the semi-final episodes of BGT were filmed in advance before the backlash began.
