BGT fans 'cringe' as Ant and Dec open semi-finals with huge singing number

Britain’s Got Talent returned to the small screen on Saturday night, and Ant and Dec harked back to their PJ & Duncan heyday.

The presenting duo decided to begin the show with a cheery song – but viewers didn’t take too kindly to the pair’s vocal range.

Flanked by backing dancers, Ant & Dec sang about the coronavirus pandemic, the judges, and what viewers can expect from the semi-finals.

Dec, opened the show by telling Ant: “It’s been a strange few months, hasn’t it?”

He added: “Shall we bring it all back? to which Ant replied: “I thought you’d never ask – lets do it!”

Ant and Dec kicked off BGT semi-finals with a massive singing number

“Let’s begin, strap in, hold tight,” they said before bursting into song.

They made their way around the panel before introducing the judges to their seats, ahead of rounding off their performance by throwing their hands in the air.

But their rousing routine didn’t get the thumbs up by viewers as many panned their “cringe” performance.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the semi-finals of BGT are held virtually, and without a live studio audience.

In order to adhere to the socially distanced guidelines, the judges sat on their own desks, two-metres apart.
