The Chase star Bradley Walsh has revealed doctors shocked him into giving up boozy and fatty food after telling him he could suffer a major heart scare.
Bradley, 60, told how a cardiologist warned him he needed to improve his health and lose 10lb because he was a “time bomb”.
Bradley’s dad Daniel died of heart disease aged 59, putting him at a heightened risk of suffering the same fate because the condition is hereditary.
The TV presenter decided to ditch his unhealthy lifestyle after the dire warning and now hopes to alert others about the “silent killer” of heart disease.
He told The Sun on Sunday : “I was a time bomb. I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer. My heart guy said, ‘Look, Brad, you need to get fit’.’’
The Chase host has totally quit booze and given up carbs and is keeping a close eye on his health by having medicals.
He said: “I had a hang-up because my father, Daniel, died at the age of 59.Once you know it’s hereditary, you start having regular tests. Of course it’s a concern.
“Every couple of years I go and have a full medical at the Loughton Cardiac Clinic (in Essex).

Bradley, who also ha hereditary high cholesterol through his mum, said he goes on the treadmill and then has a carotid artery test, to try and predict heart issues.
He said people “don’t normally have” the tests because, you don’t really get them unless you’ve had a heart attack.
Bradley has also had calcium test for his heart and that came back at zero’.

Inherited cholesterol makes it harder for the body to remove LDL — or “bad” — cholesterol from the blood.
Around nine in ten people with it have not been diagnosed — meaning early testing is crucial.
Bradley added: “People can look really healthy on the outside and on the inside, you don’t know what’s going on. More than half of it is down to your DNA, down to hereditary factors, so the day after my birthday on June 4, I started watching what I eat. I stopped drinking immediately because of all the hidden sugars, started eating more fruit, vegetables, salads and fish.”
