Captain Sir Tom Moore spoke about how he “nearly died” after suffering a painful fall last year.
The 100-year-old former British Army officer is known for raising £38.9m pounds for charity in the run-up to his 100th birthday during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He made headlines for his record-breaking charity walks, which led him to be knighted by the Queen.
However, Sir Tom “nearly didn’t make 100” as he suffered a painful accident last year.
He discussed the scary ordeal while being interviewed on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
His family explained how he “collided backwards into the dishwasher”, and “shattered his hip and broke a rib.”

Pictures showed Tom in hospital, his face completely swollen after he “punctured a lung”.
Tom’s daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore explained: “He started to blow up and it was strangling him… he really was at death’s door.”
Miraculously, Tom pulled through – he spent two months in hospital and then embarked on physiotherapy.
He told Piers during the emotional Life Stories episode that he put a “do not resuscitate” sign on his hospital door, as he explained: “I have always felt that if somebody is gravely ill and near to death to bring them back for them to die a very unpleasant death, why do that? If you have gone, you have gone.

“I did not want to finish up in an old people’s home without any facility of my own, having to be fed in every way. I would hate ever to be like that.”
Viewers found the interview hugely emotional, as many said they were reduced to tears as they watched the inspirational Captain Tom tell his story.
One said: “I am crying my eyes out watching #LifeStories. Sir Tom Moore is just the sweetest man, I am so happy we get to know more about him.”
