Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen has paid tribute to his co-star Conchata Ferrell who died aged 77, saying it a “shocking and painful loss”.
According to Deadline, the acclaimed actress died on Monday, October 12, surrounded by her family in Sherman Oaks Hospital, California.
Leading to serious health issues, Ferrell was reported to have suffered a heart attack and kidney failure six months ago.
Ferrell is best known for portraying the character of the housekeeper, Berta, for all 12 seasons of Two and a Half Men, starring Charlie.
A devastated Charlie wrote: “An absolute sweetheart a consummate pro a genuine friend a shocking and painful loss. Berta, your housekeeping was a tad suspect, your “people” keeping was perfect.”

With her comedic role in the series receiving critical acclaim, she earned two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
While her role on Two And A Half Men was career-defining, the West Virginia-born star also appeared in a number of major Hollywood blockbusters and theatre productions over the course of her colourful career.
After graduating from university with a degree in history, she decided to explore acting, getting her big break in Off-Broadway productions.

In the early years of her screen career, she landed roles in films such as Heartland and Mystic Pizza, which starred a young Julia Roberts.
Later, as a more established actress, Ferrell appeared in classic films such as Edward Scissorhands, Erin Brockovich, and True Romance, assuming a variety of roles on the big screen.
She also starred in the US legal drama LA Law, earning a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys.

Paying tribute to Ferrell’s legacy both on and off-set, Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer responded to news of her death in a touching social media post.
He wrote: “She was a beautiful human.
“Berta’s gruff exterior was an invention of the writers.
“Chatty’s warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths. I’m crying for the woman I’ll miss, and the joy she brought so many.”
Married to husband Arnie Anderson for the past 34 years, Ferrell is survived by her daughter, Samantha, and her two stepdaughters.
